Make a 6 x 8 Mini Album with me – Part 1

Make a 6 x 8 Mini Album with me – Part 1. Have you ever tried to make a Mini Album from scratch? Join me over the next few weeks to see how I made this Peter Rabbit Themed Album, well actually 3 mini albums in total.

Our neighbours are expecting a new baby boy, so I thought I would take the opportunity to make them a Mini Album so they can record this, and track the next few months.

There are ten pages in total, five of which have pockets to add even more space to record the next few months.

I found the paper at my local Hobbycraft store, in both 12 x 12″ and 6 x 6″, so bought both pads. As some of the pages feature Flopsy, Mopsy and Cotton-Tail on a pink background, I decided that I would make a second album for my neighbours’ 3 year old daughter so she doesn’t feel left out.

To start the album you will need 2 pieces of 6 x 8″ chipboard and 1 piece of 2-1/2 x 8″. The key to the album standing the test of time is to allow sufficient space between the pieces. I allowed about 1/4″ and then added some Tyvek paper to add some extra strength. I bought my Tyvek Paper a long time ago from Amazon. You can find it HERE**. You add this to the chip board BEFORE you add the card covers.

For the covers, I used two pieces of 10 x 8-1/4″ of card, which, allowing a ‘seam’ of about 1″ on all sides, will cover the pieces, but may leave a little gap in the middle of the spine. I covered the Spine with a further piece of card cut to 10 x 2-1/2″. Watch the video to see how to complete the cover, but you will need two more pieces of card for the inside cut to 7-3/4 x 5-3/4″ and one 3-3/4 x 7-3/4″, which you add first!

In the video I show you how to make, but not fit, the hinge piece (fitting it is in next week’s video, along with cutting the pages). You will need a piece of White card (I used the smooth Stampin’ Up! Basic White) cut to 7-1/4″ and the full length. I scored this at every 1/2, 1 and 1-1/4″ the full length of the card, just repeat the sequence. You can use shorter lengths and join them if you wish (if you are using North America Letter card you will need to add a join). Come back next week for the next instalment.

I am being realistic and we have reset my Personal Bests for during this time in my life. But each week back at the gym is increasing those Personal Bests, which is great for the ego. It's all about being realistic.
