New! Crafting With Stampin’ Up! Ephemera Packs On A 12 X 12 Scrapbook Page! This was, I think, the first 12 x 12″ Scrapbook page I have made on YouTube. And I loved making it. The layout is really quite a simple one, that I use often. It is especially useful if you want to use up small strips of patterned paper.

I chose to use a photo I took early in May, while sitting in traffic. It was a beautifully tranquil scene through a pub archway with mist and sunlight in the distance. I printed it in two sizes and decided quite quickly that the smaller, 3×4, size was best suited, but not in full colour. I played with my filter settings and opted for a grey filter. Interestingly, or maybe not, this is not the same as Black & White as there is a hint of colour still.

I stared with stamping some texture using the Of Art & Texture and Textured Timber stamps sets. To keep with the softness of the grey filter, I used Pebbled Path and Gray Granite Inks, but stamped off first. I decided to add some stamped off Soft Sea Foam too, which picked up the colour of the foliage to the left of the image.

To give the picture a gentle frame, I added a layer of torn vellum (sadly Stampin’ Up! no longer stocks this!) Much of the stamping was then covered with strips of paper from a variety of patterned papers. Then I wanted to add some of the Ephemera pieces, but only those with soft colours. One of the die cut words I wanted to add was originally in Bubble Bath pink, which would not work on this layout at all. That was easily fixed by covering it with Versamark Ink and then adding Silver Embossing Powder twice. The finish was like molten silver!

I added three foliage pieces to form a triangle around the photo and title area. This helps to draw the eye to the area. The title, in Gray Granite, was die cut using the Mini Alphabet die. For a bit of added texture, I added some Pebbled Path and Gray Granite ink splatters and some pearls.
Now, this is where I get onto a slightly high horse. I think that every scrapbook page needs some journaling to explain not just what the image is, but a little about why you wanted to record it. AND I believe that should be in your own handwriting. Given that I don’t much like my writing, you might think that I would type it out, but I think it is important for others to see.
