Crafty Coffee Creations: Stampin’ Up! From Our Home. I finally got round to using this charming stamp set today. It is perfect for watercolour techniques using either a Water Painter and ink or our Watercolour Pencils. Before the ‘Live’ started, I had already stamped the images in Stazon Ink, which is great for Watercolour work as it resists water.

I started by using Watercolour Pencils on the larger image. I used colours from both sets of pencils, but didn’t use that many. The trees are coloured with a combination of Old Olive and Granny Apple Green to get a slightly more vibrant colour than using Old Olive on its own.

I used a Water Painter to activate the colours and finished with a soft swipe of Basic Black for the foreground. I didn’t worry about slight inaccuracies with the colouring, this is not a project where you have to keep inside the lines.

My next project was the smaller image of a country house. I coloured this one with Watercolour Pencils again, before using the Water Painter to activate the colours.

Again, I didn’t worry too much about colours running into each other a little. I think watercolour painting needs to look a little ‘loose’, otherwise it can look a little too precise.

My last project uses exactly the same colours, but this time I used the Water Painter and Ink Pads. I moved a little ink onto the lid of the pad and then used that like a palette.

You can see that the colour is much more intense using this method, but you can adjust that by using more or less water to suite the intensity you are looking for.
To finish the cards I used the Postage Stamp Dies and simply layered each image on some coloured card before adding them to the front of a Basic Beige card front. The sentiment is stamped on scraps of watercolour paper in Early Espresso.
I hope you will give these ideas a go. The watercolour pencils are a great place to start, use any fine paint brush and some watercolour paper and give it a go.
