#SimpleStamping Saturday with Doggone Friendly from Stampin’ Up! It’s Saturday which means, mostly, that it is also my day for #SimpleStamping and this week I am featuring the Doggone Friendly Background Stamp. I am thrilled that it is carrying over because I hadn’t inked it up until I designed today’s projects.

#SimpleStamping version
My first card uses Memento Ink (but not on a Memento Ink Pad!), Assortment 1 of the Watercolour Pencils (this is the newer set, not the original version) and a Stampin’ Blend Colour Lifter.

If you have followed me for a while you will know that I now use an uninked Ink Pad with Memento Ink Refill instead of the original Memento Ink Pad. Trust me, it is a game changer, but you do need about half a bottle of ink.

All I have done is stamp the image on a Basic White Note Card and picked out just one of the dogs to colour. I used Pecan Pie, Early Espresso, Calypso Coral, Basic Grey, Black and Real Red to colour my image. I also stamped the flap of the envelope. That’s it! All done for the #SimpleStamping Version
Stepped Up version 1?
OK, so I’m really not sure which order I should put my stepped up versions, so I am going to go with the one that uses fewer tools. It’s as good a way of sorting this out as any, but this version does use a LOT of Stampin’ Blends and even more patience!

The trick with this one is to make sure that you don’t have two dogs of the same colour next to each other. Easier said than done, as you can see!! I used Sweet Sorbet, Tahitian Tide and Starry Sky for my pops of colour (please remember to get items in these colours NOW if you don’t want to miss out!!)

I added some ribbon and a sentiment from the Gorgeously Made stamp set, but you could use any sentiment you want. To make it stand out I added a mat of Tahitian Tide card.
stepped up version 2?
So this one took much less time to make, but it does use the Deckled Circle Dies, so ‘costs’ more than the previous one if you are looking at finances.

This is what the true ‘spotlight’ technique would look like, You simply select one area to ‘spotlight’. You could either do what I have done, and add an additional die-cut layer, or draw a circle on your stamped image and only colour up to that line.

Personally, I think this is a cleaner way of getting the spotlight, so I would always tend to go for this version. As you can see, the card is otherwise the same as the previous version.
Have I convinced you to try this technique and to get the Doggone Friendly Stamp set? I hope you enjoy today’s video too
