#SimpleStamping Saturday – Join Me As We Make 3 Beautiful Cards Using the Gift Of Giving. OK, so I made one card during the video and 4 in total, but by the end you read this post I hope you will understand what I mean.

This was my original #SimpleStamping card, using one stamp from the Gift of Giving stamp set. I added colour with the new Assortment 1 set of Watercolour Pencils. I love this set, it has all the basic colours you need for most projects.

I blended the colour using a Stampin’ Blends Colour Lifter. This moves the pigment around without damaging the cardstock, and gives a really smooth blend.

For the version I made on camera I went with a red mug. Because I had a red mug in my stepped up versions, I wanted to show how you could get the same colouring effect with basic supplies.

I am no expert when it comes to colour, but it you think about where light will hit and where that will make shadows fall, you will be on a good start.

Stepped Up Version

I think there will be some discussion about which of my stepped up projects is the most complex. This one has two simple mugs, this time coloured with Stampin’ Blends, fussy cut and added to the layer.

If you’re not a fan of fussy cutting you may think I am mad to call this my first stepped up version, but just wait until you see the next version and the techniques involved. I used paper from the Merry Bold & Bright pack, off set with some Basic Black for some drama, and then some Glittered Sequins for a subtle pop of glitter.

Next Stepped Up Version

For this version there is no fussy cutting at all, just two stamped images coloured with Stampin’ Blends. BUT I am sure you have notices that the mugs are facing in different directions and that the words are still the right way round. And THIS is where the project gets tricky. You need to use the Mirrored Stamping Technique for the blue mug, using a Silicone Craft Sheet, but you need to leave out the words.

Once you have stamped the mug, you need to stamp the words on to one craft sheet and then transfer them to a second one. Then you can add these to your mug, because you can see through the craft sheet you can position it exactly where you want it.

BUT there’s more! Next you need to cut a mask from our Masking Paper, but remember it needs to be the wrong way round if you want the blue mug in the front. Add this to the card and then stamp and colour your second mug. Now I am sure you understand why this is my second stepped up version.

I know I am slightly biased, but I love them all. They turned out so much better than I had expected. Sometimes you don’t need all the bells and whistles. Sometimes you can just let the images shine through.
