ring why Rustic Crate from Stampin’ Up! I know that today is Saturday, but with all the excitement of my trip to BackStage in Las Vegas, I simply forgot to film a #SimpleStamping Saturday project, so instead I am sharing this one, which I filmed before I went away.
As you will see from my sample, this stamp set has sunflowers in it, so I simply had to add it to my Pre-Order from the new Mini Catalogue, and of course it was the first sample I made. I was inspired by a card I saw Janet Wakeland share using this bundle. For her project she decided to spread the elements out quite a bit, but I like mine to be together so that they look ‘intentional’. I find if I spread things out too much they can all look a little lost.
Having all my elements close together and surrounded by embellishments makes me so very happy and, in my opinion, is the perfect way to lay your cards out. If I am working on a larger surface (like a scrapbook page), or have much smaller die cuts, images etc, then I might spread a few of the embellishments out, but most of them will be closer together.
For both projects I used pretty standard layering, but I then added a full width of paper across the middle, which was wrapped in ribbon. I tore the edges of the paper to keep with the ‘rustic’ feel of the Bundle. also added some ink from a Stampin’ Write Marker to the crate dies so that the wood grain was picked out. If you are wondering why I used the markers in preference to the ink pads, it was because I was concerned that the ink pads would add too much colour.
I know I am biased, but the Rustic Crate is a wonderful Bundle (I mean, sunflowers!!) covering so many occasions no matter where you live in the world. Harvest Festivals or Thanks Giving are perfect for the Sunflowers, the Poinsettia are a Christmas image pretty much everywhere, and the plants growing cover any occasion at all.
I hope you enjoy these projects and I will be back next Saturday with a proper #SimpleStamping Saturday project for you.
