Craft & Chat LIVE REPLAY with Liz – Beautifully Happy. Yesterday I shared two cards on YouTube using the Sale-a-Bration Stamp Set, Beautifully Happy. This set is FREE if you place an order of at least £90/€120, and it is huge. I also used some of the FREE Sale-a-Bration paper, Dandy Designs, which has 48 doubles sided sheets of paper in it, again it is a £90/€120 item, but WOW! I also used a set of dies that have been waving a me to be used for a while, Split Card Textures Dies.
My first card was the Fresh Freesia card on the right of the picture above. I stamped the large flower in Tuxedo Black before colouring it with Stampin’ Blends, choosing Fresh Freesia, Granny Apple Green and So Saffron. I added a line of Light Smoky Slate around half of the image before fussy cutting it out. Adding Light Smoky Slate helps the image to blend into the card once you have fussy cut it (or die cut for that matter)
In the image above you can see the white edge of the fussy cutting on the left of the flowers (now covered with Light Smoky Slate). I think you can see just how ‘obvious’ this makes the flowers look, rather than becoming part of the card.
In this second picture, you can see the Light Smoky Slate edge and, I hope you agree, that it blends into the card. If you take another look at the first picture, or the one below, I think the left side of the flowers is much more obvious than the right. For once I remembered to decorate the inside of the card by adding a single flower, coloured with the same Blends. The finishing touch was to add some Opaque Adhesive Backed Gems in Fresh Freesia.
My second card was much quicker to put together as it used the 2-Step Stamping images, which are so quick to use. I stamped the outline in Gray Granite so it was a more subtle image, then added 2nd Generation ink in Petal Pink and Granny Apple Green, plus a So Saffron centre to the largest flower.
I added a sentiment and some Adhesive Backed Milky Dots (this months Customer Gift) in Petal Pink, as well as a sentiment from the stamp set to help bring the card elements together. Again, I stamped on the inside of the card, repeating the colouring from the outside.
