Coffee and Chat LIVE REPLAY with Liz – Scenic Garden FREE Sale-a-Bration Stamp Set. Did you catch my Live Video yesterday afternoon? We had a blast catching up, there are quite a few regulars now and I love that they all chat away with each other. I chose to use the Scenic Garden Sale-a-Bration Host Stamp Set, yours free with a Qualifying order of £275/€375, so why not get together with your friends and place one large order, it will mean you can split the Postage too!
Inspired by some projects I found on Pinterest, I decided to colour one of the images with Stampin’ Blends, and one with Watercolouring, but neither were difficult. I think we sometimes think that we have to be really accurate with our colouring, but in actual fact, your brain will ‘fill in’ any gaps and really doesn’t need images like this to be perfectly coloured.
For my Stampin’ Blends image, I stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and left the image to dry for a while to make sure it was fully dry. I used very few colours, with the bench in Crumb Cake and the rest in Granny Apple Green, So Saffron and Pale Papaya. The key for me is using the Colour Lifter to add a few highlights and to soften the edges of the blocks of colour. If you look carefully, you will see that the colouring is definitely not ‘inside the lines’ but your brain can cope with that.
My next card uses Water Painters (specifically the smallest brush). I stamped in Staxon Ink, which is perfect for using with Watercolour. I coloured the surround first, simply adding water to the background before adding some dilute Mossy Meadow. Because the paper is wet, the colour will spread for you to a degree, I simply aadded more and more water with less and less pigment as I worked out from the pile of pots. To get the stronger line for the pots to sit on I used the pointed end of a Stampin’ Write Marker and blended it out. Don’t be afraid to do this.
Once the background was fully dry I started work on the pots. These are a mix of Pale Papaya and Cajun Craze. I had decided that my ‘light source’ was from the top right corner and coloured the pots accordingly. The foliage was next, in Granny Apple Green, then the flowers were Orchid Oasis, Rich Razzleberry and Mango Melody. Again, my colouring is very loose, allowing your brain to do most of the work. The image has been drawn with a sketch style, so this loose colouring works perfectly.
I hope you find these helpful if you struggle with colouring. I am certainly no expert, I just have a go and see what works, it is the perfect way to learn.
