#SimpleStamping Saturday – Beautifully Happy. I hope you have all had a great week, I certainly have. I had a really productive start, managing to get all my Product Shares out ahead of schedule, which I am always happy about. Yesterday I met up with some of the other Stampin’ Up! UK Leaders for a brainstorming session; it was great to be in person with so many amazing people.
But enough of that, today is about taking one project and showing how you can step it up from really quick and simple to something more elaborate and involved. This week I am using the Beautifully Happy Sale-a-Bration Stamp set as the main focus of my cards.
#SimpleStamping Version
With just three ink pads and a set of Basic White Note Cards and Envelopes I have made this really simple, but still stunning card. (OK, I lied, there are actually 4 ink pads, but you don’t have to add the Calypso Coral centre to the flower if you don’t want to.
I stamped my image in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then added second generation Petal Pink for the flowers and second generation Pear Pizzazz to the leaves. Second generation stamping is simply when you ink up your stamp and quickly stamp it onto a piece of scrap paper, before using the left over ink for you main image. This is a great way of getting more from your supplies. The sentiment, splatters and bee (added to the envelope) are all stamped with Tuxedo Black too.
First Stepped Up Version
For my first stepped up version I added some A4 sheets of cardstock, building up the layers. The background/first layer, is from one of the Sale-a-Bration paper packs, Dandy Designs. The subtle pattern adds some additional texture to the card.
To add some more texture to the flowers, I used a sponge dauber to add some Calypso Coral to the centres and then Petal Pink to the outer edges. This simple step makes such a difference to the result.
Further Stepped up Version
For my final version, I used Gold Embossing Powder for the outline of the image and then coloured with Stampin’ Blends. I used the same colours, other than the green, which I swapped out the Pear Pizzazz and substituted Old Olive (there are no Blends in Pear Pizzazz). You do need to be a little careful with your colouring because the alcohol in the Blends will ‘melt’ the embossing powder – watch the video for some tips on how to deal with this.
I used one of the Basic Border Dies from the Annual Catalogue with Gold foil to edge the stamped image, and used the same gold heat embossing for the sentiment.
These few subtle changes at each step can take your project from ‘Clean and Simple’ to Avid in just a few steps. It means that as you become more confident you can build your supplies and use on future projects.

I really liked today’s Simple Stamping Saturday. Very pretty cards. Very doable. Great tip on alcohol markers and embossing.
Gorgeous colour combination too. Thank you.
