#SimpleStamping Saturday Featuring Tropical Hideaway. I am really pleased with how these cards came together this week. As is often the way, although I knew how I expected the #SimpleStamping version to look, I actually made the other two cards first. What this actually meant was that it was after I had made them that I realised I wanted to add a sentiment. But that was simple enough to sort out.
So, accepting that this was actually the last card I made, I knew that I wanted this to be a single layer card, but when I made the first one I realised that, for me at least, having no break in the design made the card a little overwhelming. My eye needed somewhere to rest and focus. The answer was to add a sentiment, using a mask to keep the space around the sentiment clear.
I stamped the sentiment first, in Shaded Spruce, before adding a mask the same size as the ‘footprint’ of the sentiment. I knew there would be a ‘halo’ around the mask, which would give the sentiment more space. I added a mask to the back of the card too, to make sure that didn’t get ink on it.
Using the Stamparatus, I stamped the large stamp over the mask in Shaded Spruce. I did need to ink the stamp up a couple of times to get a really crisp result, but that is one of the joys of the Stamparatus. I then removed the masks to reveal the finished project. All I needed to do now was stamp the envelope flap, which was easy enough to do.
Stepped Up Version
My first stepped up card used Tuxedo Black for the image, then coloured the individual leaves with the Light shades of Parakeet Party, Granny Apple Green, Shaded Spruce, Evening Evergreen and Old Olive. The space in between the leaves was coloured with Dark Soft Sea Foam and then this was mounted on a Soft Sea Foam mat before adding the whole piece to a Shaded Spruce Card Base.
As I mentioned, the sentiment had not been part of the original plan, but it was easy to add this on a piece of Soft Sea Foam, stamped in Shaded Spruce. I pooped this up on Dimensionals.
I am really pleased how this version turned out. It was not the first version I made, for that you need to keep reading!
Further Stepped Up Version
You have probably worked out by now that this was the first version I made of today’s projects. I stamped the image in Versamark on Vellum and then heat embossed with Gold Powder. On the reverse I coloured the leaves with the Dark version of the same colours I used for the previous version.
I love how easy it is to add colour this way. Having so much Gold on the front of the vellum, it gave me lots of places to add Mini Glue Dots wo they didn’t show through to the front.
I added the Vellum to a layer of Mother of Pearl card (retiring, so only available while stocks last!). I mentioned in my video that this was reduced, and it is now just £3.85! It is a perfect layer to have behind the vellum as it adds a certain ‘something’ to the layer, but without altering the colour of the Blends on the Vellum. All in all, I am very happy with how these projects turned out.
