Quick and Simple Card Making or Stepped Up? You Choose on #SimpleStamping Saturday. Today I am bringing you my usual #SimpleStamping Saturday projects, featuring the Pretty Birds Bundle.
As ever, I started with very few supplies, using just two ink pads, the 2022 – 2024 InColor Stampin’ Write Markers, the Pretty Birds Stamp Set and some Basic White Note Cards and Envelopes.
For a change, I chose to use Basic Grey as my neutral, this gives a good impression, but is slightly softer than Tuxedo Black. I kept all the stamped images towards the bottom of the card as this gives the card some weight.
I coloured the filler image with Parakeet Party and Tahitian Tide makers and then ‘smudged’ where the colours meet with a sponge dauber, a quick ‘huff’ on the stamp and then just line it up with the outline. The branch finished off the card, filling it with Soft Suede ink. A single budgie on the envelope finished the project.
Stepped Up Version
My first stepped up version adds more product, but is the same basic design. I did add in the cage stamp to help fill the larger space, adding some of the Metallic Ribbon (in Tahitian Tide) so that the top of the chain had something to hang from!
I added some of the Layering Vellum behind a B Side of Hues of Happiness, which I tore and then distressed with the blades of my Snips. And now for a bit of a confession. The idea of this card is that you don’t need dies to complete it as you can ‘fussy’ cut the images and sentiment. But I have the dies, so I used them. The point is that you don’t ‘have’ to, your Snips will do a grand job.
This time I coloured the birds with Stampin Blends, in the same two colours. I added a few Basic Rhinestones around the sentiment and birds, being careful not to add them under any of the birds, we really don’t need that thought in our heads, or is that just me!!
Further Stepped Up Version
To step up the project more, I made my own background using Watercolour paper and some Ink Refills. I started by wetting the paper (a LOT!) with the broad Water Painter and then added Tahitian Tide, Pretty Parakeet and Daffodil Delight to the paper, allowing the inks to blend naturally.
Rather than using the stamped cage, this time I die cut the large cage from Silver Foil, I LOVE this cage, and you will have seen a few of my projects using it already. I suspect there will be a few more to come!
How cute are those birds sitting on their branch, I love this stamp set and am looking forward to making more projects with them in the coming months.
