Crafting LIVE REPLAY with Liz – Featuring Sun Prints Suite. Today I have another of my ‘catch up’ posts for you. This time I am using the Sun Prints Suite to make two very different cards. One is all about the papers (which are AMAZING), while the other is about Die Cutting and Dry Embossing.
My first card is made using a simple layout, making the most of a small scrap of paper I had in my stash. I simply cut the piece into a narrow rectangle and matted it on a piece of Basic White card. The white border gave the deep blue of the paper a great frame, making it stand out well against the Gray Granite patterned paper.
To add a little more texture to it, I had run the Gray Granite paper through the Fern 3D Embossing folder, this was simply matted onto a Starry Sky layer before adding it to the Gray Granite card base. I die cut three frames from Thick Basic White using the Stylish Shapes dies and layered them so they were a solid frame towards the top of the card. I placed these so they were NOT cut in half by the blue patterned paper or its mat.
The final touch was to add some Heart Pearls around the Basic White Frame. I love the apparent simplicity of this card and that it used up a scarp of the stunning paper.
My second card also featured a circle cut with the Stylish Shapes Dies. To make sure I didn’t flatten the embossing, I did cut the layer BEFORE running it through the Fern 3D Embossing Folder. Again, I wanted this card to have the same apparently simple look to it as the last card, so simply die cut some Basic White and Gray Granite pieces. I layered these up above and underneath the Basic White layer, setting everything slightly off-centre, just enough to make the placement ‘intentionally’ not in the centre.
To cover the joins of the die cuts, I added a double bow using the Starry Sky Bakers Twine, before adding the whole piece to the starry Sky card base using Dimensionals. I doubt that this card would fit through the ‘Standard’ letter slot at the Post Office, but I think it is worth the extra postage. Do you agree?
