#SimpleStamping Saturday LIVE REPLAY with Liz – Featuring the Bouquet of Thanks. For a second week running, I held #SimpleStamping Saturday LIVE. I will be honest, this was basically because I hadn’t managed to record it in time to post it as a pre-recorded video.
#SimpleStamping Version
My first card simply uses the stamp in full on the front of a Basic White Note Card. I stamped in Early Espresso Ink, which I find is dark enough to give the feel of Black, but a little softer.
The colouring was really simple, using just 3 of the first pack of Watercolour Pencils to colour the image in a really loose way, not worrying about filling the image, or adding any shading. The stamp takes care of all that, so you don’t need to.
Being #SimpleStamping Saturday, I stamped part of the image at the bottom left of the envelope but chose not to add any colour to this. That is all it took, a few very simple steps to get a really wonderful result.
Stepped Up Version
For my first stepped up version I switched to Crumb Cake card for my stamping. Now, the first thing to say about this is that our coloured card is not as smooth as our Basic White or Very Vanilla card, so you may find you need to stamp an image more than once to get a really good result. I inked my stamp up a couple of times to get a crisp image, stamping with the Stamparatus makes lining up so simple, so it is a very straightforward process.
This time I switched out the Calypso Coral Watercolour Pencil and used White instead. Yo can see in the image above that my colouring was very, very loose, especially the Daffodil Delight, so don’t worry too much about being precise.
I added a Petal Pink mat behind the stamped piece to help lift the finished card. The mix of Petal Pink and Crumb Cake is just one of my favourites, although I had tried Daffodil Delight and Old Olive first. There was something in the back of my mind that told me I was going to use Petal Pink. I am really happy with the result.
Further Stepped Up Version
There are a couple of main differences between this version and the previous on. Firstly, there is a Petal Pink Fabulous Frame around the image. The next difference is that I stamped the banner on Basic White card and fuss cut it out before adding this back over the image using Dimensionals.
The final difference was adding some of the Polished Dots, from the current Mini Catalogue, around the sentiment. These are a perfect addition to a card if you just want something really subtle. Sadly they are not in the new Annual Catalogue, so if you love them, order them soon.
After I had shown the stepped up versions of the project, I showed my viewers how to stamp the image without the sentiment. This is not difficult, but you will need an ink pad and Stampin’ Write Marker in the same colour. To see how I achieved this trick, watch the Video Tutorial.
