Top Tip Tuesday – Ideas for Using Scraps of Paper. I am sure I am not the only person who collects lots of scraps of pattered paper, wondering what to do with them every time you see them. Throw them away? NO! I have some ideas of how you can use them to make stunning cards.

The first couple of ideas I have use the beautiful Symbols of Fortune paper. I have had some scraps from this pack sitting on my desk for too long, so wanted to do something to use them up.

The first card I made used thin strips of the paper. I stuck these diagonally across a scrap of card, alternating the gold patterns and the ‘plain’ patterns. Once the adhesive was dry, I trimmed the piece down so I had nice clean cut edges. This was then layered onto a Calypso Coral layer. A sentiment, some ribbon and some Gilded Gems finished the card off.

The second card used larger pieces of paper, but this time I trimmed them down to squares. My squares happened to be 1″ x 1″, but any sized square would work. These were, again, added to a scrap of card alternating gold and ‘plain’ squares to fill the piece. This was finished off in the same way as the previous card.

I hope you agree that both of these cards are stunning and a fantastic way to use up those scraps we all have lying around. But those aren’t the only ideas I have, so let’s take a look at the ideas I have used for my Flowering Fields cards.

So we have gone from subtle and sophisticated to bright and fun, simply by choosing different scraps. This time the scraps are kept larger, but the are still scraps.

For both of these cards I added Adhesive Sheet to a piece of scrap card before adding the patterned paper. The first card has the pieces horizontally, off set in much the way you would lay bricks.

The second card uses longer strips added vertically in full lengths, alternating plain and floral designs. Both of these cards are trimmed and then matted onto a piece of Mango Melody card. Again, I added some ribbon and a sentiment, as well as some InColor Jewels in Fresh Freesia. The Card bases are Rich Razzleberry, as are the sentiments, so there is a lot of colour going on with these cards. Again, I am really pleased with how these cards turned out, they are both such fun and would brighten anyone’s day.
