#SimpleStamping Saturday – Featuring Sweet Ice Cream. I always LOVE designing my #SimpleStamping Saturday projects, and this week is no exception. I knew that I wanted to choose a stamp set from the Last Chance List that was still available (well, at least it was when I filmed the video and wrote this post, so fingers crossed). I had to double check the price of this set AND that it really was still available. Seriously, this stamp set is just £8.00!
I have also checked to see if the Ice Cream Cone Builder Punch is still available. Well, yes it is AND it is only £8.50, so you can get BOTH for just 50p more than the original price of the stamp set!!
#SimpleStamping Version
My #SimpleStamping card is just that, simple. I used just 3 ink pads, So Saffron, Crumb Cake and Melon Mambo, on a Basic White Note Card. The only ‘difficult’ parts are to stamp the sentiment first, so that there is just the right spacing for it to be to the far left, and ‘stamping off’ the So Saffron so you end up with the perfect Vanilla Ice Cream yellow. Everything else is just #SimpleStamping.
Stepped Up Version
If you follow me regularly, you will know that for my first stepped up version I always add coloured card stock and a couple of embellishments. Generally I don’t add any dies or punches for these cards, but the Ice Cone Builder Punch is just such amazing value, I had to add it for this card.
The stamping on this card is exactly the same as for the #SimpleStamping version, but this time I stamped on Basic White Card, punched out the ice cream cone and cut the sentiment into a strip. I used Sahara Sand card and some matching Designer Series Paper from the Neutrals pack, just a 3″ strip added to the left side of the card – find out why by watching the video!
To finish the card, I added some threads of Very Vanilla Baker’s Twine, from the Essentials pack, and some of the wonderful Iridescent Rhinestones. These work on almost all projects. They are clear, so pick up the colours around them, adding that wonderful Arora Borealis effect.
Second Stepped Up Version
For my final version of this card, I added some of the Rainbow Glimmer Paper to the each side of the patterned paper strip, this paper is on the Last Chance list and is discounted to just £4.40! The stamping was exactly the same as for the previous two version, but with a little bit of a twist.
Can you see that the sentiment, sprinkles and hatching on the cone are all glossy? The hatching on the cone was very simple gold heat embossing, but the two Melon Mambo images involve a simple technique to get them to be glossy. The secret is to add Versamark Ink to the stamp BEFORE adding the coloured ink. This means that when you stamp the Versamark Ink is at the top of the image, so it is simple to add Clear Embossing Powder.
I wanted thin gold threads for this version of the card, so pulled a few from a short length of the Just Jade & Gold Braided ribbon, reduced to just £4.40. Do you ever use ribbon in a different way? As you have seen, for these projects I unravelled some Baker’s Twine AND pulled threads from ribbon. You don’t always have to use these products as they are presented to us, find different ways of using them so that you get the most out of them.
