March 2022 Achievers Blog Hop – Featuring On The Horizon. Hello and welcome to another Achievers Blog Hop, if you are following the hop round, you will probably have joined me from Renee Kohnke in the USA, and I am sure she had a great project to share with you.
My project for the this evening is actually 3 in 1, and is a set of projects I shared on my YouTube Live last Thursday. These all used a circle as the main feature, 2 with some Ink Blending using Blending Brushes and one using a circle of paper.
The layout on the projects was more or less the same on each, all I was changing was the colours of the ink and papers used. I started by cutting a circle for a mask from a piece of sticky-backed paper (similar to Post-it Note, but sticky across the whole paper). The first version I made used very soft, pastel shades. I started with some Pale Papaya and Pool Party, adding a little So Saffron between the two.
I was going for a soft sunset look, which I think this is. The other stamping was all in Night of Navy (birds) and Evening Evergreen (grass and sentiment). The card base is Pool Party, with a Pale Papaya layer and a Pool Party ribbon. The final touch was to add a few Polished Dots.
The next version introduced some darker shades on top of the Pool Party and Pale Papaya. I added Misty Moonlight and Calypso Coral to make everything that bit darker, with a final flourish of Rich Razzleberry to make this a really deep sunset.
I finished this card in Evening Evergreen, with some Evening Evergreen In Colour Jewels (one of white covers up a smudge!!). Instead of the grasses, I stamped the cluster of trees.
My final card didn’t use Ink Blending at all. Instead I punched out a piece of the beautiful On the Horizons Paper. This is printed to look like a loose watercolour and is probably my favourite paper at the moment.
Because I was adding something to the card before I stamped on to the ‘something’ and the Basic White layer, I was a little concerned that the difference in levels would cause some ghosting. I was right to be concerned, but it was easy to fix. All I did was grab the Evening Evergreen Stampin’ Write Marker and draw in the missing lines. Really simple!
I hope you have enjoyed your visit and will now continue round the hop. If you enjoy what you see along the way, please leave a comment, they really do make a massive difference to us.
