Live Crafting Replay with Liz – Featuring Driving By. I seem to have forgotten to share last week’s Thursday YouTube Live here!! Oops! Time to rectify that. I used the Driving By Sale-a-Bration stamp set and some of the FREE Sale-a-Bration Papers to do some paper piecing.
The Van was made with papers from the Sunshine & Rainbow Papers and, like all of the cards, one of the Stitched So Sweetly dies. Stamping onto patterned paper is such a great way to add a fun element to your project.
I did need to do a little fussy cutting, but none of the images are difficult to cut. I simply cut around the bodywork of each of the vehicles, leaving the windows and tyres plain, ready to colour with Stampin’ Blends.
The sports car uses the Simply Marbleous papers. With some careful placing you can get great dimension from the pattern on the paper. I used the other side of the paper as my background, adding some of the Flirty Flamingo Ribbon from the Annual Catalogue.
I do have a bit of an issue with most images ‘hanging’ in mid-air, so added a soft shadow under each of the vehicles with my Smoky Slate Light and a little Colour Lifter to soften it.
My final card has no paper piecing, other than including two patterns for the background, which doesn’t really count in my mind. The papers are from the Sunshine and Rainbow Sale-a-bration pack. I added a strip of Bermuda Bay card to cover the join and extend from one side to the other.
The car is coloured in Bermuda Bay, with Magenta Madness and Flirty Flamingo parcels on top. Again, I have used the same die cut label from Stitched So Sweetly. I love this set of dies, they are just so pretty with that little scalloped edge, lifting this up from a standard Stitched Rectangle.
