#SimpleStamping Saturday – Light the Candles Kit. I know it has been a while, but I am back with another #SimpleStamping Saturday project. This week’s is a little different. As the Light the Candles Kit has just come into stock in Europe (as it goes out of stock in North America!) I thought I would do an unboxing and make up one of each of the projects.
There are supplies to make 4 each of 2 designs, and, as with some of our other kits, there is a stamp set, block and ink spot, you can also make projects once the main consumable pieces have been used up.
The 2 projects are perfect for any birthday celebration, no matter the age of the recipient, they will be thrilled to receive either of the cards.
Stepped Up versions
I made two alternative projects, using the candle card as the inspiration. I simply took the card base and cut 2 mats, each 3-3/4 x 5-1/2″, and then cut the candles apart. There are two obvious places you could choose to cut, one with the two candles on the left and one cutting the candles piece in half. I selected to go with the 2 and 4 candle option.
My first card introduces a piece of Magenta Madness for the card base, and Night of Navy for the mat. I simply added the pair of candles to the front of the card. I chose one of the smaller sentiments and stamped it in Magenta Madness ink and added a matching mat. For this version I decided to add some of the Iridescent Rhinestones in place of the included Gold Shimmer Dots.
My second version is similar, but I turned the card into an Easel Card, using the patterned inside of the envelope (actually just the flap) as a layer for the easel area of the card. Because the original cards are standard North American size, they are slightly wider and shorter than International sizes, so using the envelopes as patterned paper makes perfect sense. They won’t fit a standard A6 card, so you may as well use them on your project.
