OSAT Happiness Is Tulip Fields and Windmills. Welcome to my website. If you are following today’s Hop you will be joining me from the lovely Sara Levin; I am sure you enjoyed her projects. You are now in the UK with me, Liz Yuille. I live in a very small village in rural Oxfordshire, and area with a surprising number of Windmills, so the Tulip Fields Bundle in the new Mini really caught my eye.
I have had so much fun making the card and windmill for this Hop and used a number of techniques along the way. The stamps for the foreground are so easy to use. There are just two stamps, the one for the furthest rows, which I stamped in Poppy Parade, and then just one stamp to fill in the gap. I started with the Mango Melody row, stamping at right angles to the first stamp, and then filled in the space with Polished Pink and Fresh Freesia.
Next I stamped the windmill a little up from the flowers, before covering that and the field with masks so I could use Blending Brushes to add colour. The windmill mask was hand cut, the clouds were cut with the dies from the Windmill Field Dies and the mask for the field was a simple sticky note.
I used Granny Apple Green and Crumb Cake for the foreground and Balmy Blue for the sky, before drawing in the slopes with Smoky Slate Stampin’ Write Marker and a line of Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blend. The finished effect is so much better than I expected.
To finish the card off I added some stamped trees, coloured with Dark Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blend, Coloured the windmill with Crumb Cake (including adding a shadow around the base), tiny amount of Smokey Slate on the sails and roof, with the finishing touch of a Poppy Parade front door. The die cut fence was added with dies, backed with Adhesive Sheet, and then some Smoky Slate Blends shadows.
The windmill was a little bit of a fiddle to put together, but just follows the angles of the die cuts to form a 4 sided box of the same size, with a set of Basic Black sails (a double layer for strength) and a black brad. The sails do turn, so it ends up as a really fun project. Now all I need to do is work out how to explain exactly how to make it without ending up having to write pages of instructions. Keep an eye on my YouTube Channel for a future video!
I hope you enjoyed my project and would now encourage you to continue the hop by clicking on number 3 on the list, the lovely Kelly Acheson. Remember to share the love as you continue on the hop by leaving a comment.
