Calming Camellia White Wash Technique for Stampers Showcase Blog Hop. Welcome to the first of two posts today here on my website. This first one is part of the Stampers Showcase Blog hop and our theme of Sale-a-Bration.
The White Wash Technique is not new, but it is one of those techniques that we need to be reminded of every now and again, so this is your reminder. The technique works perfectly on Distinktive Stamps, such as the FREE Host Stamp Set available until the end of February. To get your set you just need to place an order of at least £275/€375. This is the perfect time to stock up on basic supplies, and purchase Kits to use as Gifts for your friends. Remember that in addition to getting this FREE stamp set, you also get to select other FREE Sale-a-Bration items AND will earn Stampin’ Rewards.
But enough of that, let’s get back to the project. I made this during my Catalogue Launch Party over on YouTube. I stamped with Soft Succulent Ink onto Soft Succulent card and then wrapped a length of Soft Succulent Ribbon around the card. The sentiment and card base are both Evening Evergreen. I love this colour combination, it is so classy and perfect for so many occasions.
For the White Wash Technique you can use a variety of colouring tools. One of the easiest is to use a white coloured pencil and simply add the pigment to the areas you want to highlight, we have a white pencil in the first assortment of Water Colour Pencils. You could also use the Stampin’ Up! Chalk Marker, but I chose to use an almost dry Water Painter and our Whisper White Craft Ink. I think this gives the best results and allows more control when you add the colour.
I start at the edge of a petal or leaf and then drag the colour towards to inside. This allows you to highlight the areas that are going to catch more of the light and gives you a really soft finish. You can build up the layers of white, just make sure you don’t add too mush water and end up ‘pilling’ the card. If you allow each layer to dry before adding the next you can reduce the risk of ‘pilling’ and also see how the colour settles when it is dry.
I would encourage you to try this technique on stamps you already have. As I mentioned, it works best on Distinktive stamps, but others would work too. I hope you enjoyed this visit to my Blog. I LOVE it. I have not done this technique in a long time. It kind of replaced the stinky bleach technique. I think I’m going to make this card later in the week. It’s on my list!!! TFS
