YouTube Live Crafting REPLAY with Liz – Featuring Bright Baubles. Well, today was definitely a ‘getting inky’ kind of a day on my YouTube Live. I was playing with Ink Blending Brushes and the Bright Baubles stamp set. Sadly this set is no longer available in Europe, but the techniques work for lots of other images.
I had prepared my card fronts by stamping and heat embossing each of the bauble images on Basic White card. It was then a simple case of cutting masks for each of them, but keeping both the positive and the negative masks so I could add ink through both of them.
My first card was shades of blue, with a pop of Highland Heather to lift the colour a little. I never did get the background as dark as I wanted it, but I am certain that with sufficient time I would have got there.
My second card used a non-traditional Christmas palette of browns and yellows. That said it is definitely my favourite of the 2 cards. It has the depth of colour on the background that I was hoping for.
To finish off the cards I added ribbons and embellishments. I love the look of the Highland Heather bow at the top of the blue version, it is perfect against the background and picks out the silver from the heat embossing. The Pastel Pearls are a perfect addition too.
The brown version definitely works with the Faux Suede Trim and the Champagne Rhinestones. I especially like the rhinestones in the middle of the starbursts, they really finish the card off well.
