#SimpleStamping Saturday Featuring the Christmas Season Stamp Set. Hello, and welcome to my Blog this chilly Saturday morning. We have had our first frosts of the year here in South Oxfordshire. It really is beginning to feel wintery now. Being Saturday, I have a few projects to, hopefully, get you inspired, whatever your crafting style.
My first version, as ever, uses limited supplies, starting with the choice of one of our fantastic Notecards and Envelopes. This week I am using Very Vanilla for a change.
The Christmas Season Stamp Set has so many images that you can use to build up great images, large or small. It is one of our 2-Step Stamping sets and has so many images to use, but I only selected 2 of these. I wanted to create a project that worked because of its simplicity. Using just 3 ink pads to create this cute little image cluster. I started by stamping the pine foliage in Evening Evergreen, first in full strength, then again in 2nd generation, off setting the image a little to help build a feeling of depth.
For #SimpleStamping Saturday I always remember to stamp the envelope. Today is no exception and I used the same Pine Bough image. If you watch the Video Tutorial you will see me talking about how to avoid a classic mistake when using this 2nd generation technique. The Pinecone uses Soft Suede and Crumb Cake. I started by stamping the smaller image in Soft Suede and then used this darker colour to help me see through the stamp and block to add the larger, Crumb Cake, image. By using the dark colour first, it makes is a lot easier to line up the lighter images.
First Stepped Up Version
For my first stepped up version I added full sheets of Thick Very Vanilla for the card base and our wonderfully smooth Very Vanilla for the stamping and die cuts. I repeated the same stamping as before, but this time on some small scraps of card. The only difference with this card is that I didn’t use the 2nd generation for the Pine Bough. To build depth this time, I used a small piece of the Ever Eden Cotton Paper and simply die cut the same shape, layering it behind the stamped image.
I forgot to mention that the sentiment for this and all three of the cards, is from Words of Cheer, and is stamped in Soft Suede. For both stepped up versions, I die cut this out using one of the labels from the Seasonal Labels dies. I wanted shorter label, so ran the die through my Mini Cut & Emboss twice, simply moving the die on the second pass.
To step the card up a little more, I added some Evening Evergreen Open Weave Ribbon behind the label and scattered some of the InColor Jewels around too. I added these in 3 areas, but in clusters of 2 in each. These are still my favourite embellishments at the moment, although the limited edition Garden Gems are running them a close second!
Further Stepped Up Version
For my final version I switched the background to Evening Evergreen and tried one of the new techniques that Stampin’ Up! has recently featured on their Instagram Profile. Using a piece of Evening Evergreen Ever Eden Cotton Paper, quite a bit larger than the mat, you simply scrunch the paper up a couple of times to get lots of creases. Now add this to a mat that has been covered with adhesive. I have found that adding a piece of our Adhesive Sheet to the mat is the best way of doing this. Simply add the Cotton Paper while it is still quite scrunched and then flatten it to the adhesive, trimming the edges.
You can see that I used gold embossing for the sentiment this time, on Evening Evergreen card. I added Soft Succulent ribbon this time to help lift the project a little. The image cluster for this version is made up of die cuts from the Christmas Pinecone dies. I used Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen for the Pine Boughs and the two darkest colour of Brushed Metallic Foil for the Pinecone. Again, to lift the project a little, I added InColor Jewels in 3 clusters of 2.
