YouTube Live Crafting REPLAY with Liz – Featuring Merriest Moments Bundle from Stampin’ Up! Yesterday afternoon I featured this amazing Bundle on my YouTube Live Crafting session. I hold these twice a week and they are FREE for anyone to join in, all you need to do is find my YouTube channel (I’ll make it easy for you – https://www.youtube.com/c/lizyuille). If you subscribe and set the Alert Bell you will receive an email every time I go Live.
I wanted to use the Merriest Moments Bundle to show everyone exactly how amazing it actually is. And I only scratched the surface, there will be more projects coming here very soon, so keep checking back, or subscribe to my Blog, you will find the box to do that to the right if you are on a Laptop/PC, or further down the page if you are on a mobile device.
As you can see, I made two very different cards to show the versatility of this set. You can use any colour palette you want and it will work, you just need to have some courage. That said, I was not convinced by the non-traditional one when I first made it, now I am really happy with how it turned out.
I had die cut the large image in Old Olive card before running it through the 3D Embossing folder to give it the added dimension it needed so I could add some White Craft Ink with a Sponge Dauber. This softens the card, giving it a frosted look, before die cutting it again with the more intricate die.
The flowers were simply stamped tone-on-tone in Blushing Bride and Pale Papaya. It was this colour combination I was not sure about, but splitting them to the diagonal corners works really well. The finishing touch was to add some silver Metallic Pearls to the centres. For the Sentiment I used Mossy Meadow on Old Olive so it was more of a statement.
My other card uses the same die cutting and embossing techniques, but this time I used Watercolour Paper and a Water Painter to add colour to the large die. It is not the tidiest way of adding colour, but as a background piece I like the result. I chose Evening Evergreen, Just Jade, Soft Succulent and Cherry Cobbler Inks.
The flowers worked out better than I had thought they were going to. Again I used Watercolour paper, stamping the flowers in Cherry Cobbler Ink before Spritzing them with water. WOW the way the colour just burst across the flowers was exactly what I was hoping for. Had I been crafting for myself I would have left the flowers to dry naturally. On a Live you want to speed things up, so I lifted some of the ink with kitchen paper and then finished off with my Heat Gun.
This time I added the gold Metallic Pearls to the centre of the flowers. I think we sometimes forget that we have these Metallic Pearls, but they are actually perfect for Christmas projects, adding a subtle metallic look.
What do you think of the results? Which would you make? Or maybe you would go for a very different Colour Combination. I would love to hear your ideas, you never know, I may have a go at them to see how they turn out.
