YouTube Live Crafting REPLAY with Liz – End of Sale-a-Bration Countdown PART 2. Boy did I have fun on today’s YouTube Live! I was not totally organised (who is not surprised by that!), but everything came together, and I even did a little encore! So here are the THREE cards I made today.
Counting Sheep
The first card I made used the really cute Counting Sheep Stamp Set and Dies. I paired three sheep with one of the papers from the Penguin Playmates Designer Series Paper.
Using just 2 Stampin’ Blends Combos and the Color Lifter I coloured the three sheep, even remembering to leave their eyes white. Some simple die cutting gave me all the elements I needed, including a ‘Think Bubble’ from one of the dies! I know, amazing!! It just came to me when I was looking at the dies that with a little trimming they are PERFECT for this. Add some simple punched circles, using an ordinary hole punch and you have the perfect ‘think bubble’.
For some added fun, I stamped and coloured the head and front legs of the jumping sheep on the inside of the card. It almost looks like that is where it was jumping to! Or is that just me?
Textures & Frames
Next came my Textures & Frames card. I pulled some of the colours from the Penguin Playmates paper for my colour combination. If you ever get stuck for a colour combination this is a great place to start. If the colours work for the Concept Artists, they should work for us mere mortals!
I simply added the four colours randomly all over a piece of Basic White card, which I then trimmed to size (yes, I could have started with a smaller piece of card!!). Some simple layering onto a piece of the Penguin Playmates paper gave me the layers I was after. Before adding this to a Fresh Freesia card base I added a piece of Just Jade Braided Ribbon.
The final touch was to add a sentiment from the In Your Own Words Sale-a-Bration Host Stamp Set. I punched this out using the Rectangular Postage Stamp Punch, trimming it to size by punching it a second time.
Peaceful Prints
As a bit of an ‘encore’ I put together a quick card using the stunningly elegant Peaceful Prints Paper. This pairs with the Peaceful Deer Bundle, so it was only natural that I would pull that stamp set.
The papers I chose are actually the same sheet, just opposite sides. I added them to a piece of Sahara Sand card and wrapped a piece of the Cherry Cobbler and Gold Metallic Ribbon to cover the join.
My Sahara Sand ink pad is a little over juicy, but I wanted my deer to be in that colour, so I kept my fingers crossed. It worked, but would have been better with a less inky pad (it is now stored upside down!) I popped the Deer up with Dimensionals and added a few of the Genial Gems as a little finishing touch.
