#SimpleStamping Saturday – Nuts About Squirrels. Yes, another week has gone in a blink. If you are England (and I do mean England, not the UK) you have probably seen children heading back to school, which, of course, means after a cool and dull summer, the forecast is now for an Indian Summer! Typical!!!
Of course today also means it is time for #SimpleStamping Saturday, and I have cuteness overload for you today.
#SimpleStamping Versions
Head over to page 49 of the current Mini Catalogue (if you are in the UK and would like one, click HERE to request one FREE) and find the Nuts About Squirrels stamp set, then tell me that is NOT cute.
My first version of this card uses just three ink colours, so is great if you are looking to build your collection up slowly. With just Soft Suede, Cinnamon Cider and Old Olive you can make this card. In fact, if you need all the supplies for this card it would cost you just under £45 and means you would qualify for a FREE Sale-a-Bration item if you add just one more item to qualify for a Level One item!
As Red Squirrels are very rare in the UK, I thought I would make a grey one too. I did have to add Basic Gray and Gray Granite, but I am pleased with the result. the Gray Granite is definitely better than Smoky Slate for our furry friends.
First Stepped Up Version
For my first stepped up version I have, as usual, added full A4 sheets of card, in this case Crumb Cake and Cinnamon Cider as well as Basic White. I also added a pack of the stunning Cork Paper. A little of the Cork Paper can lift a project from ‘ordinary’ to ‘extraordinary’. The stamping is exactly the same as the #SimpleStamping version, but adding the extra layers and textures makes a definite difference to the result.
I decided to add some fun to the inside of the card too. The perfect sentiment for a face on one side and a tail on the other. A little fun goes a long way in my book!
Second Stepped Up Version
There was a sneak peek of my final version in the previous picture. This also drove the sizes for the layers on my first stepped up version.
I simply replaced the cut layers with die cut layers using the Stitched Rectangles and the Penned Flowers for the Cork Paper. Everything else about this card is the same as the previous version.
So which is your favourite? I would love to hear from you, so why not let me know in the comments below? To see how I put the #SimpleStamping version together, take a look at the Video Tutorial below, but remember to read all about the Ordering Special first!
