YouTube Live Crafting REPLAY with Liz – Harvest Meadow. Gosh we had a blast on my YouTube Live yesterday, at least I did!! I had done minimal preparation, and I mean minimal. All I had done was to choose a couple of sheets of the amazingly elegant and versatile Harvest Meadow Designer Series Paper, die cut some of the floral shapes in the Harvest Dies set and that was pretty much it.
I like to do a few ‘make it up as I go along’ YouTube Lives so that my followers can see my creative process (what there is of it!). My impression is, and many of my followers seem to agree, that some YouTube videos are too edited and give the impression that YouTubers are all ‘perfect’ crafters and never drop an ink pad, stamp badly….. I am telling you, we are all human and make as many mistakes as anyone else. Those of us who choose not to edit our process videos are happy to embrace this fact (that and too lazy/busy to spend hours editing a video). We are happy to share how we correct our mistakes and how we design our projects. Sharing my mistakes makes me very happy.
The first card I made yesterday actually didn’t use the floral die cuts. It became clear as I was putting this, very simple, card together it became obvious that the paper didn’t need too much on it. Adding a few scraps of card and paper was all that was needed and the Metallic Dots were the the perfect finishing touch.
The Be Dazzling paper, which is a FREE Level 1 Sale-a-Bration item, was a scrap left over for a project I am sharing with you later this week. I coloured it with some Ink Refills in alcohol, sprayed with a Stampin’ Spritzer (see the list of products/colours used on that post on Thursday).
My second card is a little quieter with tone on tone Soft Succulent paper and very little additional colour, other than Kraft and Crumb Cake. I used a couple of tiny scraps, one piece of Bumblebee Designer Series Paper and a piece of Cork paper. The sentiment is heat embossed on Kraft and then fussy cut before adding to the card.
I only used two of the Kraft paper die cuts, but cut the ears of wheat in two, as well as cutting their long stalks off. The finishing touch for this card was the Diamond Weave Ribbon, which I had frayed one end of. I used Stampin’ Seal to adhere the ribbon, but one of my viewers suggested mini glue dots, which is probably the better suggestion.
What do you think? Have you ever caught one of my Live YouTube videos? If they are at a time that is not good for you, you could always watch them after the event. There is a link to the replay a little lower down this post.
