Gorgeous Leaves for One Stamp at a Time Design Team Blog Hop. It seems that the vast majority of the Hops I am part of take part in the first two weeks of any month. Yes, I have another hop for you today, this time with the wonderful One Stamp at a Time Design Team. If you are following the hop you are probably visiting from Mary Haugen in the USA. Welcome and I hope you enjoy the projects I have to share with you today. We always bring a couple of projects to you for our hops and today is no different. Our Theme is ‘Turning a New Leaf’, which could be a decision to change how you are doing something, or, as in my case, could be literal leaves. I have used one of the Bundles that you can add to your Starter Kit FREE if you join my Team before the end of September. This is in ADDITION to the usual £130/€175 of product for £99/€129 including SHIPPING!
I have been itching to use the new Gorgeous Leaves Bundle for a while, and also wanted to try changing the colour of the Sale-a-Bration Be Dazzling Paper. This seemed to be the perfect time for both, so I got out a Stampin’ Spritzer and filled it with Rubbing Alcohol and then added a few drops of Cinnamon Cider Ink Refill. If you are using 100% Alcohol, as I was, you will need to give the Stampin’ Spritzer a really good shake before spritzing the Be Dazzling Paper. I started by adding the spray in a few areas before adding Cherry Cobbler Ink Refill and then Blackberry Bliss Ink Refill, spritzing in new areas each time. Adding more Ink to the existing colour helps to allow the colours to blend nicely. If you want more distinct areas of colour, then you could use a different Stampin’ Spritzer for each.
Because I had used Alcohol, the ink did not take too long to dry, but I think you could get a similar result if you used water or 70% Rubbing Alcohol, it would just take longer for the ink to dry. It was then a simple matter of die cutting the filigree leaves from the paper. You do need to be aware that if you use the same die over and over again on the Be Dazzling Paper you may dull the blade, so do bear that in mind. I cut two of each of the 3 main leaves, one of each for the card and the box.
For the card I wanted the die cut leaves to have colour behind them, so I stamped them in Crushed Curry, Cinnamon Cider and Merry Merlot, diagonally across the page to indicate some movement. As I was using earthy tones I decided to use Very Vanilla, which I love for Autumnal projects. The leaves are really easy to add with some Multi Purpose Liquid Glue. As you can see, I cut the central mat quite a bit smaller than I usually do, adding Crushed Curry and Merry Merlot mats behind them, then a larger Crumb Cake layer.
Gorgeous Leaves does not have any sentiments, so I ‘borrowed’ one from Heartfelt Wishes using Gold Heat Embossing and then fussy cutting it out, before adding it with some small pieces of Dimensionals. Of course I had to stamp the inside of the card too, so used the same ink colours and the small leaf stamp to add a row of leaves tumbling across the bottom of the inside.
For my second project I used one of the Kraft Gift Boxes, which come with adhesive already in place, making the super easy to put together. I wanted to add a label to the front of the box, so die cut one using the Seasonal Labels Dies and a small hole punch. I used the wood effect stamp and some Crumb Cake ink to stamp across the label. To help keep the box closed, I wrapped some Linen Thread around the box three times before tying it in a knot and threading the ends of the Linen Thread through to the front.
I had already die cut the fine line leaves, but added some solid leaves in the same Crushed Curry, Cinnamon Cider and Merry Merlot. I tied these together, with the help of some Mini Glue Dots, with the Linen Thread finishing with a bow. How pretty is that? The box is large enough to hold a few International A6 cards, but of course you could add anything you wish. Just a small word of caution, although the boxes are Food Safe, if you were to add anything with butter or other fats, you would find that it would soak into the card and could leave greasy marks. Not very pretty!
Thank you for joining me today. I would encourage you to continue on the hop by selecting one of the names from the list below. The obvious choice would be to go and visit Ashley Fifer in Winnipeg, Canada. I know it will be worth your while, Ashley is a very talented paper crafter, as well as being a lovely person!
