Be Jolly Little Robin! I have been promising that I will bring you a card using the smallest image in the Be Jolly Stamp Set, and here it is. Just how cute is this little chap? I really did have such fun making this card, which came together so quickly, I think that is what happens when you are crafting for fun and just let things come together.
Knowing that I wanted the tiny image to be the main focal point of the card, I deliberately chose layers that would not detract from the image too much. I chose a Basic White Mat, but embossed it with the Hammered Metal 3D Embossing folder for some texture, with a Crumb Cake layer over the top, this time embossed with the Thanks & Hello Embossing Folder. I chose to use ‘Thanks’ folder from the Thanks & Hello folders to echo the sentiment I had chose to use.
To help bring the focus of attention onto the Robin I die cut it with the Layering Circle Dies, coloured it with Blends and mounted it on a piece of Be Dazzling Specialty Paper (FREE during Sale-a-Bration with a qualifying order of just £45!). I added a short length of the Cherry Cobbler & Gold Ribbon to the Crumb Cake mat before adding the Robin flat onto the mat with Multi Purpose Liquid Glue.
The sentiment is on Cherry Cobbler with Gold Heat Embossing to tie in with the ribbon. I ran this off the edge of the Cherry Cobbler card base, having cut the end at an angle, adding it with Dimensionals and overlapping the cut edge with the lower edge of the circle die cuts.
The robin image is coloured with Crumb Cake and Cajun Craze Stampin’ Blends, with the hat coloured with Cherry Cobbler and light Smoky Slate. I wanted something to help tie the image to the Be Dazzling Paper, so added some Clear Wink of Stella to the ‘fur’ of the hat. Having added the Robin to the card front, I decided to add some splatter with the Clear Wink of Stella too. Clear Wink of Stella splatter give a very subtle finish, but it is so pretty.
The final touch was to stamp another Robin on the inside of the card. This one is just the simple stamped image, but that is really all it needs. Adding colour would, in my opinion, have been a step too far. What do you think? Would you have added colour to the Robin on the inside? Do let me know if in the comments below.
