One Stamp at a Time Blog Hop – Christmas in July. Welcome to the July One Stamp at a Time Blog Hop and our Christmas in July special. Along the way you will probably see some teaser projects using some of the amazing new products that will be coming on 3rd August. I have decided not to be that unkind, so am using products that are available NOW, but are still NEW. The Tidings of Christmas Suite is all new in the Annual Catalogue, so you can get an early start on your cards and gift packaging.
I had great fun creating the projects for today’s Blog Hop and the finished projects are probably going to be in my ‘special project’ pile, rather than thinking about replicating these often. They are not difficult, but they are a little time consuming. But let’s look at the card first.
I have used a few techniques on this card to get lots of dimension and texture. First I stamped tone on tone with Evening Evergreen ink onto an Evening Evergreen card base, just in the top right and bottom left corners. Next I used one of the Wintry 3D Embossing folders with a piece of Evening Evergreen Shimmer Vellum. This had a layer of Tidings of Christmas Designer Series Paper added (which is 15% off until 2nd August!). I wrapped a length of Evening Evergreen Open Weave Ribbon around the Vellum and Designer Series Paper and then added it to the front of the card.
The ‘feature’ is a stamped and dies cut star, stamped in Evening Evergreen and coloured with Light Soft Succulent Stampin’ Blend. This is layered onto a Copper Foil Die Cut Star, slightly off set to allow the copper to peek out from behind the stamped star. I can never resist a bit of fussy cutting, so I stamped and heat embossed part of one of the sentiments in Copper on Sahara Sand card, and then got the snips out.
The finishing touches on the card were the addition of some of the InColor Jewels in Evening Evergreen around the star, and some die cut ‘greenery’ in Sahara Sand, tucked behind the star, which is on Dimensionals. SO that is the card done.
To pair with the card, I made a simple square gift box. Just a piece of Evening Evergreen Card, cut to 7 x 7″ and scored at 2″ on each side. I made it using, what I call the Catherine Wheel method. You can find other examples of this type of box by searching my blog posts. The lid is a full 6 x 6″ piece of the Tidings of Christmas (discounted!) Designer Series Paper, scored at 1-1/2″ on each side. The finished box is 3 x 3 x 2″ and perfect for something small, like jewellery!
The lid is decorated quiet simply with a Die Cut star in Soft Succulent with a copper filigree Die Cut start on top. I layered this filigree star with an additional 2 layers of Sahara Sand Card. The sentiment is heat embossed with Copper Powder on Evening Evergreen, then layered onto the star with a piece of the Evening Evergreen Open Weave Ribbon caught between the sentiment and the filigree star.
In a few days I will be launching me Christmas Card and Gift Packaging Club. This will be in addition to my regular Card Class in the Mail. I am going to be helping you to get ahead with your Christmas Card making so that you don’t end up in a rush in December. To see more about this, make sure you are subscribed to my Newsletter!
I hope you enjoyed these projects and will now continue along the hop, by selecting one of the names in the list below. If you want to see which products I used, you will find these listed below the Blog List.
