To The Moon for One Stamp At a Time. I am finally getting back into the rhythm, but it has taken a while. I have realised that I need to post my ideas at times that suit me, rather than always post at a specific time. This means I can take part in Design Team and Blog Hop Projects without having to post multiple times in one day. So today I am sharing the projects I have made for One Stamp at a Time Blog Hop – Boys in the Hood. If you are following the Hop, you will have joined me from Mindy Clove in the USA.
I have been trying out a few ink techniques over the past few weeks, including using a mix of Reinkers and Rubbing Alcohol. This background is the result of one of these. I used 3 Reinkers and 70% Rubbing Alcohol.
The key to this effect is to remember that the colours will fade, so go BOLD. I used Blackberry Bliss, Misty Moonlight and Evening Evergreen. The result reminded me so much of images of the galaxy that I had to pair it with To The Moon.
The ‘phases of the moon’ stamp just called to be stamped in White Craft Ink on Blackberry Bliss. I don’t use this ink enough, probably because the ‘clean up’ takes a little longer, and I am a lazy crafter. But it is perfect for this band across the bottom of my card. I used a matching Blackberry Bliss card base, layered with Evening Evergreen and the Alcohol Ink Vellum (more on that in a moment).
To show off the inked vellum to its best I needed to work out how to turn what, by the time I had finished, was a curled, uneven piece of vellum, into a flat layer. This is where our Adhesive Sheets come into their own. I added a piece to the back of a Basic White layer and then stuck this to the back of the Vellum. Rubbing the resultant piece firmly with a Bone Folder or Clear Block makes sure you get a really good, smooth result.
I added another piece of the vellum to the inside of the card, along with the sentiment, stamped in Blackberry Bliss Ink. This time I use Seal Adhesive to adhere the Vellum Strip, which is pretty effective too.
We always aim to bring a card and another project for One Stamp At a Time, and as I had some of the vellum left, I added this to another piece of Basic White Card and die cut it using one of the Tailor Made Tag dies. I layered this with one cut in Blackberry Bliss card and one in Evening Evergreen Shimmer Vellum, these latter two, adhered together at the top so that they are slightly off set against the top tag. Because the vellum is backed with Basic White card, there is plenty of space to write a personal message on the back. Add a few Basic Rhinestones to the tag and card to finish the project.
What do you think? I hope you like the effect. I will try to workout how to record a video of this technique in the next couple of weeks. It is a little messy, so I just need to sort out a couple of issues before I share!
