Snail Mail BARGAIN – Part 2. Yesterday I showed you a couple of the cards I have made recently with the retiring Snail Mail Suite. Yesterday was all about Designer Series Paper and Die Cutting, today is about stamping and colouring.
This is the card I made over the weekend. It uses Poppy Parade and Granny Apple Green from the Brights Collection, along with Pumpkin Pie, Crumb Cake and Ivory Blends. I also used some Ink and a mask to add some colour to the background.
The version I made during my Tuesday Live switched colours, replacing all, except the Ivory. This time my colours were Soft Seafoam, So Saffron and Petal Pink. One of the fantastic properties of Blends is that you can build up colour by adding more layers. Leaving each layer to dry before adding the next helps stop any dye running. You can see this with the snail body; I layered lots of Ivory to get some shading.
To ground the images, I added some Balmy Blue and Soft Seafoam to the card layer with Blending Brushes. I stamped the Mushrooms first and added a mask made from Sticky Note Paper to protect the image from the blended ink. Some soft blending makes such a difference.
A few Resin Hearts (50% off in Europe, while stocks last!) gives the card that ‘finished’ look. I am always amazed that just a few tiny additions like the Resin Hearts and Ink Blending can make such a difference. The video for the soft version is linked below and is the same video as yesterday. If you haven’t seen it yet, I hope you give it a go and enjoy the making process.
