YouTube Live Crafting REPLAY with Liz – Count on Me. Yesterday’s YouTube Live was really quite short, for me, although I have six projects to share with you. These are all a variation of the same design using the animals in the Count On Me Stamp Set. I LOVE this set, it is perfect for children and adults who are children at heart . With so many projects to show you, the product list is a little longer than usual, but I have listed the items that are used on ALL of them first. I will note the specific items I used for each project with the picture. As the sentiments all have small lettering, they are the perfect size to cut up into smaller pieces to surround the animals.
The first card I made used the Bear image. I chose a Crumb Cake card base with Balmy Blue for the mat and tag. Crumb Cake and Balmy Blue is one of my favourite colour combos. The Vellum mat was embossed with the new Checks & Dots Embossing folder. These folders fit in the Mini Stampin’ Cut and Emboss, as do the Tailor Made Tags dies. The bear is coloured using Cinnamon Cider and Read Red Stampin Blends. I stamped the sentiment in Balmy Blue and added some Resin Hearts. The ribbon is from the Flowers for Every Season pack with some Linen Thread tied around it in a bow. Not that you can see it in the photo, but I added a splatter of Clear Wink of Stella for a little glimmer.
The Kangaroo is on Crumb Cake and Daffodil Delight, coloured with Crumb Cake, Dark Daffodil Delight and Dark Pumpkin Pie. I used Crumb Cake Ink, Gilded Gems and the Fine Art Ribbon, tied with a White Twine bow. I added some splatter with the Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write Marker, but am not convinced it work. What do you think?
The last of the cards on a Crumb Cake base also uses Mint Macaron, this is another of my favourite colour combos. I had to look up photos of Kiwis as I had no idea what colour they should be. It appears that ‘brown/grey’ pretty much sums it up, so I used Crumb Cake for the body and Ivory for the beak. The ribbon for this card is actually Soft Succulent, which is a perfect match for that, but also for Mint Macaron. I tied this with Linen Thread and added some Mint Macaron Genial Gems. This card, and all the following ones, uses smaller tags because the animals are a lot smaller.
These Koalas are so cute, but I am not sure if they are hugging because they love each other, or because one, or both are scared. I went with the latter thought when I selected the sentiment for this one. I chose Pumpkin Pie as the base to bring some colour to the card. As I see Gray Granite as a ‘warm’ grey, I wanted a warm colour to use with it. The Ribbon, twine and Stampin’ Blends are all Gray Granite, but I added some white Resin Hearts to help lift the card a little. Can I tell you how difficult it is for me to type GRAY. For me, being in the UK, this is spelt wrong, but I know that in the USA it is the correct spelling. Using GRAY and GREY in the same sentence looks more than a little odd!
This Penguin is SO cute, it has a wiggle in its step and the most wonderful face, yet it is such a small image. I really had to go with Basic Black for this project because that is the main colour of a penguin, but I wanted the image to be a little lighter. To get the ‘look’ of black without using Black Blends, I simply added lots of layers of Dark Gray Granite. If you allow each layer to dry before adding the next you can build up the colour without it running. To help lift this card, I used a Real Red card base, ribbon, stamping and Resin Hearts.
Cinnamon Cider and Petal Pink seem to just ‘work’ so I embraced these colours, using only those and White. The fox is very simple to colour, just Cinnamon Cider Blends on the body, with Ivory for the face and tail tip. This was the first project I have made since getting the Square Gems. These seem to have more ‘weight’ than circular equivalents, so you may want to bear that in mind when you use them.
I am looking forward to using this set lots more and hope I have given you a few ideas of what you could do with them. Please let me know if I have inspired you. You can watch the video by clicking on the link below the Ordering Special.
