Quiet Meadow Bundle Grunge Card. It is time for the Blogging Friends Blog Hop, which I missed for a while so I could recover from Covid and spend some time to accept the recent passing of my Father. But as today’s theme is ‘Anything Goes’ I felt that this was the time to come back to the fold, without having to create a project for a specific topic. And boy have I enjoyed simply creating without restriction.
Many years ago I started to make projects that were more towards ‘Grunge’ and, although I do like the more Clean and Simple style, I think my creativity sits more in the Grunge camp. As I have been allowing myself to craft for me a little more in the past few weeks, that Grunge feel has come to the fore a little more. Seeing the Quiet Meadow stamp set really helped with this as many of the images are in that area.
The first part of this project was to create the colour wash for the die cuts. Using ALL of the new InColor reinkers, I added drops onto a slick surface before spritzing with water. I used our Fluid 100 Watercolor paper, which I spritzed so it was quite wet, before laying this onto the inked surface. I love how this creates a unique piece and how you can get a second piece from the left over ink. This needed to dry before I selected the areas to die cut.
I rarely use Sahara Sand, but for this project it was my instant choice for the stamping and the mat. Using both the text and the splatter stamps in second and third generation, I created the background for this project. I used our Paper Snips to distress the edges and specifically removed the corners on the diagonal. This was then layered on a piece of Sahara Sand that had also been distressed.
You need to remember that Fluid 100 Watercolour paper is thicker than standard card, so you may need to run the dies through your Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine twice. That said, mine cut perfectly first time. I die cut more pieces than I wanted, selecting the areas I wanted to use for each. This allowed me to then ‘play’ with my layout until I had the one I wanted.
When I added the die cuts, the first layer was flat to the background, and next two had Dimensionals added at the top, but were flat on the stalks; this helps to add dimension. The finishing touch was to stamp ‘Love’ on a scrap of the Fluid 100 Watercolour, using Evening Evergreen and the Stamparatus. Using the Stamparatus allowed me to stamp the sentiment a few times so I got a clear finish on the slightly rough surface. I die cut this with the small tag die and then added a bow using 3 pieces of Linen Thread. The card base is a simple Basic White card from a half sheet of card stock.
So what do you think? Do you like this style of project, or would you prefer it to be nearer the Clean and Simple style? I would love to know what you think, so why not leave me a comment?
