Better Places for #SimpleStamping. Wow! What a busy weekend I have had. Not only did I hold my Catalogue Launch Party on Sunday, I also held my usual #SimpleStamping Saturday YouTube Live. If you spotted that I did not post yesterday, this is why. I was basically exhausted and simply did not have the energy to write the post, let alone edit the photos and all the other steps that are required for each post here. So, today I am sharing the projects for #SimpleStamping Saturday.
#SimpleStamping Project
This week I started with a Very Vanilla Note Card and simply stamped the largest image in Memento Tuxedo Black and I then coloured the image simply with Watercolour Pencils. Because I have both sets of these, I did use them both, but you could easily limit yourself to the colours in one. I used a Blender Pen to help smoot out the colour and added the sentiment to the bottom right corner of the image.
For my #SimpleStamping projects I always decorate the envelope in some way, so it was an easy choice to add the smaller scene to the outside of the envelope. Patterned envelopes are allowed in the UK, but I believe they may not be permitted in all territories, so please check with your Postal Office before you post your card.
Stepped Up Project
My second version I used Very Vanilla Thick Card for my image, also in Tuxedo Black, stamped a couple of times to get a blacker black. The Stamparatus is perfect for this, making it so easy. I used similar colours (replacing Calypso Coral with Pale Papaya), but this time in Stampin’ Blends. I wanted the image to look like it was further back on the front of the card, so added diorama frames, using the Stitched Rectangle dies.
For a bit of a change, rather than the other edges of the frames being lined up, I made the sizes smaller as the frame got larger. Of course, I made a rooky error with this card. Colouring with Blends straight onto the card base meant that the colour bled through to the inside. This is easy to fix, simply by adding a mat on the inside of the card, covering the bled through colour. What I should have done is stamp and colour on a separate piece of card, before adding that to the outside of the card!
Stepped Up Version 2
For my second stepped up version, I used Shimmery White Card for the stamped image, again, using the Stamparatus to help me get a blacker black. This time I coloured using Ink and a Water Painter Brush. This gives the smoothest finish of them all, but only if you add water to the area you are colouring before you add the colour. This helps to achieve a smooth colour, but you need to remember to wait for each colour to dry before adding another colour next to it. If the colour is still wet, it will run. I used this to get the smooth transition between the Balmy Blue of the sky and the Pale Papaya of the sunset.
Originally I simply layered the finished piece onto the Old Olive piece from the previous version and then onto a plain piece of Pale Papaya. I decided this looked too plain, so I carefully removed the Old Olive layer and added some tone on tone stamping. I am so pleased I di, it definitely makes a difference, in a good way.
