Beauty of the Earth Quick and Easy Cards. Did you manage to join me LIVE on Thursday afternoon? I was showcasing the amazing Beauty of Friendship Suite. This is a suite that I ordered as part of the Demonstrator Pre-Order, one of the many benefits of being a Demonstrator – ordering early! The papers in the Designer Series Paper are simply stunning and make card making so very Quick and Easy. I always knew I was going to love the papers, but the bundle has come as more of a surprise, a good one!
My first card, which I made before I started my YouTube Live, uses one of those wonderful papers. All I had to do was cut a piece out and layer it up on Merry Merlot card. I wrapped some of the Mossy Meadow Braided Linen Trim around the 2 layers and tied the ends in a knot, fraying the ends. I mounted this piece on Misty Moonlight, using Dimensionals, then on an Early Espresso card base. The sentiment is in Misty Moonlight, layered on Merry Merlot. You can just see the top of the tree I stamped in the bottom corner of the liner, using second generation Misty Moonlight and full strength Merry Merlot, mirroring the images in the paper.
The first card I made during my YouTube Live uses more of the wonderful paper designs. In fact the only elements on the first layer of this card that are NOT from the Designer Series Paper, are the ribbon and the birds. Having cut the layers for the top layer, I added them to an Old Olive mat and then wrapped a piece of Cinnamon Cider Ribbon over the join, which helps bring the two papers together.
The tree is cut from three layers of the paper, even layering these together flat, gives the tree an amazing amount of dimension. The Bumblebee birds were (pardon the pun) a flight of fancy, but they do add a certain something.
The picture above shows just how much dimension you can get from layering the papers. What I would suggest, however, is that the papers for the tree truck/branches and top layer of ‘leaves’ should have adhesive sheet added before die cutting. This will make the who thing a LOT quicker to put together (I have added this to the product list!)
My final card is really quick and easy to put together and showcases the paper layer well but not adding too much on top. This pattern is just too beautiful to cover up. You could simply add a sentiment and let the paper have centre stage. I decided to add a small feature of a stamped tree and simple sentiment. The tree uses Cinnamon Cider for the truck and Old Olive and Mossy Meadow for the leaves. Really simple stamping, as is the sentiment, in Misty Moonlight. I felt that the tree was ‘hanging’ when I first trimmed it down, so I added the shadow in Crumb Cake, which helped to ‘ground’ it.
Can you just see the second generation Cinnamon Cider tree on the inside of the card? I am trying to remember to stamp on the inside of cards. It is not something I am particularly good at remembering to do, but I am trying…
