The Return of Simple Stamping Saturday with Party Puffins. By popular request, I am bringing back Simple Stamping Saturdays, but they will be even better! Why, well you can join me to see the whole process of making the #simplestamping, Casual and Avid versions LIVE on YouTube. The first of these happened last Saturday, 17th April, and featured the wonderful Party Puffins Stamp Set from the New Annual Catalogue. These are such fun and I hope you like them.
#simplestamping
As ever with my Simple Stamping cards, I start with a single layer Note Card and Envelope. Some easy stamping with Tuxedo Black ink and colouring with Watercolour Pencils. The balloon is stamped using the Polished Pink Stampin’ Write Marker, with a highlight added using the Chalk Marker. Getting the new InColors in the Stampin’ Write Markers set is a great way to get all the new colours at a good price.
I drew in the string using the Black Stampin’ Write Marker, which you can buy as a single item. Of course I had to add a puffin to the front of my envelope too, after all, it is #SimpleStamping Saturday, so decorating the envelope has to be done!
Casual Stamper Version
For my first stepped up version of the card, I added some of the Stampin’ Reward Designer Series Paper. I am not sure there has been an option to use Stampin’ Rewards on an exclusive Designer Paper Pack before, but the Pattern Party 12 x 12″ pack is HUGE. A full 48 sheets (4 each of 12 designs) with colour prints on one side and black and white on the other. I think this is going to be a really popular item. I have used the paper for my first layer on the card.
The images have been stamped repeatedly using Tuxedo Black and the Stamparatus. Using the Stamparatus means that you can stamp in the same place 3 or 4 times, as I did here. This gives a really BLACK black. I coloured the images with Stampin’ Write Blends in Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight and Smoky Slate (the Dark option of the first two and the Light option of the second). This time I stamped the balloon using the full Ink Pad. I should add that the balloon stamp is the left over piece from the belly of the large Puffin. To add a bit more dimension to the project, I fussy cut the balloon and the larger puffin, adding some Light Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blend asay from the image to make it appear that the puffin was jumping in the air. Just a bit of fun.
Avid Crafter Version
To step the project up some more, I switched out the Tuxedo Black ink and used VersaMark instead. Black Stampin’ Emboss powder is coming back in the new Catalogue, so I have used that for all both puffins and the sentiment. Black Stampin’ Emboss powder not only gives a really dark black, it also adds some shine, which seems right for Puffins. Rather than cutting the White rectangle, I used a new die from the Scalloped Contours die set.
To give the balloon some shine I inked the stamp with VersaMark and, before stamping, added some Polished Pink Ink. Once I had stamped the balloon, I added some Clear Stampin Emboss powder. As the alcohol in Stampin’ Blends can smudge the colour of Embossing Powder, I used a Blender Pen and Ink from the Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie Ink Pads. The finishing touch for this version was to add some Opals Rounds.
I have added a list of the CURRENT ITEMS to the shopping list below. I am not able to add details of the NEW ITEMS until the Catalogue goes LIVE on 4th May, but if you want to get any of the new items I have used, you can get them now, and save at least 20% on future orders until at least the end of July 2021.
