Hey Chick and Hey Birthday Chick Card Selection. Well, I actually managed to spend a few minutes in my Studio today, which is a vast improvement. That said, I am now shattered, so clearly still have a long way to go with this Covid journey I am on. After all, it has only been a week since I got my test result. But a bit of crafting is good for the soul. I also want to remind you that there are only 4 days of Sale-a-Bration left!!!!!
I started with this wonderful flying chicken, which reminds me of a character from The Chicken Run. This film features a group of Chickens trying to escape a chicken farm by learning to fly. The film is one of my very few claims to fame. It was made in aid of Red Nose Day (which this year is on Friday, 19th March), which was run by clients of mine, who invited my husband and I to the Premier of the film in Leicester Square. It is probably the only Red Carpet I will ever walk on!
But I digress. I cut a mask of the bird and balloon from sticky paper and then added some Balmy Blue ink using one of our wonderful Blending Brushes. Just a small amount of colour can lift the image and stop it looking too stark. Some quick colouring with Stampin’ Blends and a Poppy Parade Happy Birthday and the card is basically done. But what a fun card to send or receive. Perfect for all ages too, so very useful for a ‘oops I nearly forgot’ Birthday. Please tell me I am not the only one who needs those!
Next I wanted to make a card using only the dies and some blending. I die cut the Corn, Fence and Chicken Coop (which I know means using both sets of dies!) to make this scene. I found that the Coop was not very distinctive, so added some Crumb Cake ink to the die before running it through the Cut and Emboss. This made all the detail that is included on the die stand out, and what detail!
I added some Crumb Cake, Granny Apple Green and Balmy Blue to the background to give some grounding for the images. The corn was great fun to put together, adding lots of heads of corn, as well as their husks, the set includes four of each of these dies, so it is really quick. After adding the die cuts I decided that they needed some shadows, and some light Gray Granite worked a treat.
My final card is very straightforward. Just some stamping, colouring and die cutting all added to a piece of Oh So Ombre Paper. Remember that this paper is FREE with a qualifying order until 11pm on Sunday. It is a Level 1 Sale-a-Bration item and has been really popular, so don’t miss out!
I chose to colour my crazy chick’s feathers with shades of aqua, specifically Bermuda Bay, Pretty Peacock and Just Jade. I continued with this theme for the paper, card and ribbon and lifter the final card with some Basic Rhinestones. This was a really quick card to put together, helped by the amazing colour coordination that we know and love Stampin’ Up! for.
