Crafting with Liz Yuille – Today we are using Sand & Sea Papers. Sorry I am more than a little late posting today. To find out why, tune in to my YouTube Live tomorrow morning at 10am UK Time. But, did you catch my Live Crafting session yesterday on YouTube. Once we got over a bit of a hiccough at the start, it went really well. I was playing with the Sand & Sea Designer Series Paper, but mixing it with products from the Annual Catalogue.
I really like the papers from the Sand & Sea suite, but I can’t see myself using the stamps or dies that often. But that never stops me from using pretty paper, so it was time to see what else I had in my stash that could work. Then I remembered the Whale of a Time Suite from the Annual Catalogue. I have the Seabed 3D Embossing Folder from that suite, and it works really well with the Sand & Sea papers. I especially liked the look of the embossing on the Pearlescent Paper.
Although there was no need to use a sentiment from a sea based stamp set, the ‘You’re Kind of a Big Deal’ was the perfect size to fit in the corner of the stitched rectangle. I picked out the Melon Mambo from the paper, it served two purposes. Firstly, it coordinates perfectly with the papers, but it is also dark enough to stand out on the paper.
For both my cards, I decided to get out my trusty Paper Snips and do some fussy cutting from the paper to build up a pile of shells on the left side of the card, hugging the rectangle. I included some images that were on the edge of the paper, so were not complete. It is easy enough to cover up the cut edge when you are layering in this way.
You have probably spotted that I used the Opal Rounds that are my Shopping Special this month. These work well on lots of projects, not only ones using the Sand & Sea products. I think of them as being the Frosted and Clear Epoxy Droplets on steroids! That little bit of trapped glitter is just amazing!
I hope you enjoy the projects. To see exactly how I made them, why not have a look at the Replay of yesterday’s YouTube Live – just click the link further down the page.
