Crafting with Liz Yuille – Today we are using Hey Girlfriend. Thursday afternoon’s YouTube Live was such fun, playing dress up with the Hey Girlfriend Stamp Set. I think this set is one of those that is perfect for all ages. It is particularly going to fill a gap between young girl and young lady. But I can also see myself using it for cards to my friends, and I am MUCH older than either of those!!
But the card I designed for the YouTube Live was for a Galentine’s Card. The day before Valentine’s Day, which, before the Pandemic, started to become a day when girlfriends would get together and celebrate their friendship. This year more than any other, I think it is vital to make sure we remember all our friends and to send them a little love. How lovely to get greeting cards from your friends for no apparent reason.
The card is not particularly complicated to make. It is some simple layering and then a coloured image layered over some ink blending. All very monochromatic and subtle. Each card has a little surprise on the inside with one of the pets added for no reason other than because you can.
I used the Stitched Rectangles for my two smaller layers, but it would be just as easy to cut these on your trimmer. I chose to pop these up with some Dimensionals, this helps to elevate the card in more ways than one! Sorry, bad joke!!! But I hope you understand what I mean. This is a pared down card, so giving the rectangles a little lift does help to turn this card into something even more special.
During the YouTube Live I also showed some other versions of the girls, showing just how versatile they can be with a help from a few additional Stampin’ Blends.
This first bunch all use purples, be that Purple Posy or Highland Heather, these would work together well on a card.
My second bunch are all the same image, but wearing different colours and with different skin tones.
My final bunch also show how using different colours can change the skin tone and ethnicity of the images. I am so pleased that this stamp set can embrace so many different styles in that way.
Have I converted you to this set? I do hope so. I have a few more ideas up my sleeve on how to make the most of this great set. Please do give it a look. I am sure you won’t be disappointed.
