Crafting with Liz Yuille – Today we are using Back on Your Feet. I am late posting today because, if you watched my YouTube Live on Saturday Morning, you will know that my Father is in hospital with a suspected broken ankle. Life has taken a slightly interesting turn as a result, so I am playing catch-up a bit. The card I made on Saturday is now with my Father and was made with him specifically in mind. The sloth with the bandaged leg seemed to be the perfect image for his situation. And it is such a cute image anyway.
I started by stamping the image on a piece of White card, and on a piece of sticky note. I fussy cut the image on the sticky note, slightly inside the stamped area, to make a mask. Once this was in place over the image on the card, I added some Old Olive Ink to give a soft background to the main image. The mask worked really well, so there was no halo around the image.
When it came to colouring the image, I have to admit that I have no idea what colour a sloth should be. I have assumed that some sort of brown would be about right, and happily it appears it is! It is not a difficult image to colour, all that I wanted was to give it some shape, so layered up Crumb Cake and Soft Suede Stampin’ Blends.
For the bandage I chose to use Gray Granite, these colours can give the shading I wanted without making the bandage look too dirty. The finishing touch for the outside of the card was to stamp ‘OUCH!’ a few times on a scrap of white card. I trimmed these tightly before adding them around the sloth image, in the same way I would add any embellishment.
The inside of any card needs to have something on it and I often wait until I am writing it to add this. As I knew who this card was going to, I was happy to add the sentiment and part of the sloth image.
So what do you think? I hope you enjoyed this project, to see it being made in ‘real-time’ you can simple click on the video link further down this post. Do remember that I have a couple of ordering specials this month, AND there is less than 2 weeks to take advantage of Sale-a-Bration. I can also confirm that there will be no new products added to the Sale-a-Bration offering, unlike in previous years.
