Peaceful Boughs for Stampin’ for Christmas. Today I am taking part in the first Stampin’ for Christmas Blog Hop of 2021. If you are following the hop you may have joined me from Dana Sullivan in the USA. Well, you are now in Oxfordshire in the UK and it is a very cold and foggy day. We even have a forecast of snow later, so Christmas is probably an appropriate theme for today.
As you may have gathered from the title of this post, I have used the Peaceful Boughs Stamp set from the Annual Catalogue for today’s project. I have had this set for a while and I LOVE it. It is such a simple set to use, just a couple of colours and you can make a stunning card in minutes.
For my first Christmas project of the year, I wanted to have a soft and subtle look, so I chose Soft Sea Foam and Crumb Cake on a White base. This is one of my favourite colour combinations and I think it is perfect for Christmas and Winter Projects.
After stamping the large foliage image in the top left corner using Soft Sea Foam, I added three of the small fir cones to look like they were hanging off the foliage, right at the tips. Next came the Sentiment, which, like the fir cones, I stamped in Crumb Cake ink.
I felt that the card was too bare at this stage, so I took the smallest foliage image and stamped in Soft Sea Foam around the edge of the White layer. This was exactly the look I wanted. Not too much fuss, just a subtle frame around the main elements of the card.
To match the card, I coloured a piece of White Crinkle Seam Binding with the Dark Soft Sea Foam Stampin’ Blend. Using Stampin’ Blends to colour your ribbon is a great way to have every colour of ribbon in your stash without having to find the space!
The final touch was the addition of a few Pearls. If you position your embellishments in a triangle around the main focal point of your project, they can really help to bring the eye in to that point. I added one Pearl beneath the ribbon, so that area was included in the focal point, then one to the side of the greeting and a cluster above the fir cones. These all help to turn the project from OK, to finished.
Thank you for joining me this afternoon. To see the other Design Team Projects you can either select someone from the Blog Roll, of simply click the ‘Next’ button to go to see what my good friend, the lovely Kate Bolt, has made to inspire you.
