Today we are using A Touch of Ink Stamp Set. On Saturday morning I held a YouTube Live, playing with A Touch of Ink and the Field & Flowers Designer Series Paper. Both the stamps and paper are from the Sale-a-Bration Brochure which means they are FREE! I had managed to overslept more than a little, so I was not as planned as I had hoped. However, I LOVE the cards I made and think they are probably better because I didn’t plan!
I had decided that I was going to use the stamps with the Field & Flowers Designer Series Paper, so I cut a couple of layers and grabbed some White card to stamp on. The first card uses the butterfly and flower images. Both the outline images are stamped in Tuxedo Black, as is the sentiment. I used the solid images to add colour, Petal Pink for the flowers and Pool Party for the Butterfly. I repeated the colours for the dotty pattern stamp in a few areas.
The stamped card was then cut down before layering on a piece of Bumblebee a little larger than the final stamped piece. I did think about adding the dimensions for these elements, but as the card was cut AFTER stamping, I changed my mind. On reflection, it is best for you to do your own stamping, cut the card down and then cutting a slightly larger piece of Bumblebee. It is a LOT easier to stamp and then cut, rather than trying to fit the stamping onto a specific size.
Before adding the paper to the Poppy Parade card front, I wrapped a piece of Bumblebee Ribbon around it, adhering it with Seal+. The stamped element is adhered with Dimensionals. I added some more of the dotty pattern to the liner of the card so that the inside and outside tie in.
My second card uses the same basic supplies, but I think it ‘feels’ very different. I chose Just Jade as the main colour, only adding some Misty Moonlight (second generation) for the Humming Bird. The construction is EXACTLY the same as for the first card, but in landscape.
I decided to off set the image and added a small piece of ribbon to the piece wrapped around the paper, simply tying it on with a half knot. But I wanted something a little different on the inside of the card, so decided to add a second humming bird, but in mirror image. This is a great technique to learn. Using a Silicone Crafting mat, you simply stamp your image on the mat and then lay your card over the wet image and rub the back. If you are careful not to move the card, and rub well, you should have a really clear mirror image.
So what do you think? Do you like the cards? I hope you do. To see how I made them, and to get a peek at the Hello Dear Friend All Inclusive Card Kit, make sure you watch the video.
