For the Handmade For You – Well for The Spot Challenge 145. Today I am looking at Inking Techniques, specifically, Splatter, Sprinkles, Spritz and Smooching for The Spot Challenge.
If you click on the image above you will be able to see lots more inspiration from other Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators across the world. But don’t go yet, at least take a look at my project before you go! For the background, I have decided on Ink Blending, with our wonderful new Blending Brushes, and Colour Lifting, or Water Bleaching. I have also chosen to use a new Stamp Set from the January to June Mini Catalogue, one you may have overlooked.
I am referring to Handmade for You on page 56. This stamp set is perfect for all kinds of Crafter, plus it has the Stampin’ Up! Copyright image, so is great if you are looking to sell your Stampin’ Up! Projects. Under the Angel Policy if you are selling your projects you must include the Copyright image somewhere on your project. That is the ONLY requirement, so you can make as many as you like as long as you include the Copyright image. How great is that?!
But you want to know how I made my project I am guessing. So, I started with some Shimmery White Card, Coastal Cabana Ink and a Blending Brush. I added ink so that it was heavier towards the middle. Because I wanted the centre to be darker, I also added some Bermuda Bay Ink. Then I took a Water Painter and added drops, splats and sprinkles of water to the card. I left some of the water on longer than other areas, and then lifted it off with some Kitchen Paper. This ‘lifts’ or ‘bleaches’ the ink leaving you with the lighter areas that you can see in the images. If your water ‘splats’ onto the card, then that is how your lighter are will look. I love that it is all a little random. Once I was happy with the result I cut the card to size.
The first layer of card is Bermuda Bay and I stamped it with Bermuda Bay ink and the stand alone Floral Image, randomly on/off the edge of the card. The Dressmakers Dummy Image has been stamped in Pool Party, Coastal Cabana and Bermuda Bay, and then Fussy Cut before layering them up. The Sentiment is on Bermuda Bay with White Heat Embossing, again this has been Fussy Cut. All of this is layered on top of the Coastal Cabana Ribbon from the Playing With Patterns Ribbon Combo.
The finishing touches were to add some of the Artistry Blooms Sequins and to stamp on the inside of the card. I stamped the Dressmakers Dummy in Pool Party and the # Sentiments in Bermuda Bay. The whole is on a Pool Party card base. So, what do you think? Have I tempted you to look at the Handmade For You Stamp Set? Will you have a go at the Colour Lifting/Water Bleaching? And the BIG QUESTION is will you enter the Challenge? We love to see all your projects, so why not give it a go.
