Dragonfly Garden for The Spot Challenge #146. Today we have a slightly different challenge over at The Spot Challenges. It is all about CASEing (Copy and Share Everything). And this time we are CASEing Jay Soriano of Mitosucrafts. Jay is an inspired crafter and I LOVE his work.
To keep you guessing, I have not even shown the picture on the front of my Blog Feed. This is the project I am using to CASE, which Jay shared about a year ago.
This is actually quite different from his usual style, but I love the simplicity of it. The dies Jay used are no longer available, so I have substituted the Dragonflies Punch and the Dragonfly Garden stamp set. This is what I made.
I have stamped using Early Espresso Classic Ink on Vellum and heat embossed with the Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Vellum resists the ink, so it allows you to emboss with any of the Classic Inks. You need to be a little care that you don’t overheat the vellum.
I used the Painted Texture 3D Embossing folder for the White layer, just to add a bit of texture. For me, this adds something special to the project. The sentiment is from the same stamp set and is also stamped in Early Espresso. I trimmed the White card down and matted it on to some Early Espresso Card to make sure the Sentiment stood out. It is also on Dimensionals to help make it stand out.
I added two sets of dragonfly wings, so that there is more movement. I trimmed the head and the tail off the bottom dragonfly and used a small amount of Multi Liquid Glue to stick the wings to the body, but Mini Glue dots to adhere the dragonfly to the card front.
Please remember to look at the other inspiration pieces and then enter the challenge. To get to the main The Spot Challenge Website, either click HERE, or the Challenge Image at the top of the page.
