A Touch of Ink and Oh So Ombre. Today I am hopping with the One Stamp at a Time Design Team Again. Our theme is Welcoming New, so we are all concentrating on the new Mini Catalogue and Sale-a-Bration. In my case, mostly the latter.
For my card I used the Bermuda Bay Oh So Ombre papers for the mat. To mirror the ombre, I use some White card punched with the Label me Lovely punch, and then added some Bermuda Bay Ink with one of our new Blending Brushes. These add a very controllable amount of ink, so are perfect for this technique. I repeated this again for the box
The Butterfly is from the Touch of Ink Sale-a-Bration set. I stamped in Versamark on Vellum and then heat embossed with Gold powder. I repeated this four times, twice for the card and twice for the box and then fussy cut them out. Each butterfly has 2 wings, as you would expect, stuck together at the base with TomBow. I added these to the labels with more TomBow.
I added the label to the top left of the card with Dimensionals, opening the wings to show the dimension of those. The sentiment is also from A Touch or Ink, embossed in White on Bermuda Bay, before being fussy cut. This is applied with a Mini Dimensionals so it hangs off the bottom of the label. Adding some Basic Pearls falling down the card seemed a good finishing touch.
The box is one of the Love You Always Treat Boxes from the Mini Catalogue. I simply cut more of the Oh So Ombre paper to 4″ wide and then stuck to piece together before wrapping around the box, cutting to size and sticking the ends together. One piece of 6 x 6 (cut to 6 x 4″) will cover the top and both sides, so the key is to make sure the joins are at the bottom of the sides, overlapping the piece on the base (I hope that makes sense!)
Again, I added the Label and Butterfly, as well as some pearls, and I was done. Quick and simple and took about 30 mins from start to finish!

WOW, Liz! That gold embossing really makes your card pop! Gorgeous design, thanks so much for sharing!!
Thank you Toni, I am so pleased you enjoyed it. Lx
What an awesome card! Love the simplicity & that gold embossing!!
Hi Liz, Love a touch of ink stamp set especially when used on Vellum. Does Vellum absorb ink in the same way as paper? Could I pre-colour the wings before embossing?
Hi Karen, dye ink (like SU Classic Ink) is going to take a long time to dry on vellum as it will not be absorbed. You could pre-colour, especially if you use alcohol markers, so it dries quickly. Lx
Do Stampin’ Up have any watercolour pencils that might work instead?
Thanks in anticipation, regards Karen.
Hi Karen, Stampin’ Up! has 2 sets of watercolour pencil, which do work on Vellum. #141709 is £15 for 13 colours, or #149014 is £11.75 for 10 different colours. If you are in the UK and aren’t working with another Demo and would like all the current Catalogues, just drop me a line and I will post them out at no cost to you. I love how delicate those butterflies are embossed on vellum. So pretty.
Thank you! Lx
