Three Bright and Cheerful Cards Using Quite Curvy – Facebook Live Replay 22nd December 2020. I don’t know about you, but not only is the weather is miserable, so is the news in the UK. So I thought I would share some really bright cards with you today. They are inspired by fellow Demonstrator Blue Rose Paper Treasures (AKA Gail Ellis) in Australia. I spotted her versions in my feed and knew I had to CASE them.
Portrait – Just For You
None of the cards are than tricky if you follow the video. This one is really straight forward, just a few bits of die cutting and some simple stamping and colouring. The wave die cutting is a simple case of taking a quarter sheet of card stock and die cutting so you have about 2/3rds of the card to the right of the dots and cut edge, but don’t worry too much about the exact size! The ‘Vine’ stamp is positioned so that both ends run off the side of the die cut. I used Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured some, but not all, of the leaves with the Granny Apple Green Blends Combo.
The scarp piece of card is perfect for the sentiment and bird. I stamped the sentiment before die cutting it with a rectangle label die, but you can simply cut it to size, just aim for there to be an overlap onto the Magenta Madness piece. The little birds for all the cards are coloured with Seaside Spray Blends Combo, nothing complicated at all. the die cut leaves are in Granny Apple Green, one is tucked under the label, the other is under the bird, which is popped up on a Dimensional. For once I actually added a liner on the inside of my card and stamped on it!!
Flowers for Every Season Card
This is the card that really caught my eye first. I love that it uses Designer Series Paper, not least because it means you can change the paper and give the card a totally different feel. This time I die cut BEFORE trimming the whit card and paper to size and then layered them up and cut them as one. The stamping for the sentiment is simple, just remember to allow the stamp to relax face down on some paper before picking it up with your block. If you place it on the block it may change shape a little, which you don’t want!
To finish this card I added a Magenta Madness mat and used white die cut leaves and a flower built up from two Small Bloom punched pieces, off set and with a Playing with Patterns Resin Dot in the middle. The little bird is tucked in behind the flower on a Mini Dimensional.
Thinking of You Card
Now, let’s just start by saying the way I did the stamping for this card is NOT how I would recommend doing it. I did it this way because I wanted to speed up the process for the LIVE. I would start by stamping the Vine stamp BEFORE die cutting the white card. I coloured the stamping with Granny Apple Green Blends Combo again. THEN die cut and split the pieces. Add a tiny amount of Stampin Seal to the front of the Magenta Madness card to hole the top piece of white card in place, then stamp the sentiment.
Once the sentiment is in place you can add the white card around it and trim to size. Personally I like to trim with my Paper Snips, but I know some of you will want to use a trimmer, just don’t cut the base! As you can see from the picture above, I added a white flower and another bird to finish off the card.
I hope you enjoy these cards. To see how I made them, simply click on the video below, just remember that it is NOT Live!!
