#SimpleStamping Saturday Darling Donkey Sale-a-Bration Sneak Peek. As the items from the August December Mini Catalogue start to sell out, I think it is time for me to accept that there is almost no hope that I can be ahead with my posts AND use products that are still available. With this in mind, it is time for me to look at products in the Annual Catalogue, as well as start to look at the new items coming in January.
Those of you who have been Stampin’ Up! fans for a while will know that January sees the launch of the next Mini Catalogue, as well as the start of Sale-a-Bration. This will be a little different in 2021 as Sale-a-Bration will only be with us from 5th January to the end of February. BUT it will then reappear in the middle of the year for another couple of months. EXCITING!!!!!
#SimpleStamping
The first version of my card is, as usual, a really simple card using one of our White Notecards and Envelopes. I simply stamped the donkey with the rose and the HEE HAW! sentiment in Tuxedo Black before colouring the donkey with Watercolour Pencils. It only took 4 colours to get the result I was looking for, all from the original set of pencils.
#SimpleStamping Saturday wouldn’t be right if I left the envelope ‘naked’, and this week is no different. I added the head of one of the other donkeys to the front, bottom right corner. Just a few minutes to make a really cute card that would be perfect for so many occasions; possibly Valentine’s Day?!
Stepped Up Version
My first stepped up version adds a few extra products to the mix. OK, more than a few maybe, but you may have a few of them in your stash already. This time I stamped the donkey and sentiment in Soft Suede before colouring the image with Stampin’ Blends and then fussy cutting the image and the sentiment out. I layered the image on an extended punched element in Petal Pink. The Petal Pink sets off the donkey perfectly.
A few pearls and a length of ribbon add so much to the finished project and will impress the recipient too. This version used Gray Granite for the donkey, along with some Soft Suede and Flirty Flamingo. The white area left by fussy cutting is softened by adding some light Gray Granite Stampin’ Blend. This helps to make the edge disappear into the punched element
Stepped up AGAIN
I LOVE my final version. It was actually the second version I made, which is often the case. I find that going from one extreme to another means it is much easier to then fill the gap in. I have replace the Crumb Cake with some Christmas Designer Series Paper, I wonder if you can guess which one this is. The Petal Pink is die cut with one of the Stitched Shape Ovals and the Pearls have been switched for Elegant Faceted Gems, also in Petal Pink. Of course, I had to heat emboss the sentiment for some added texture and to tie in with the Ribbon.
This version has a brown donkey, using Soft Suede and Crumb Cake Blends. The edges of the fussy cutting are, again, coloured with the Light Gray Granite, this really makes a significant difference to the finish of the project. Oh, and the Designer Series Paper I used? It was Poinsettia Place, did you guess right?
So, which is your favourite? Please let me know. Remember that you will be able to get the stamp set FREE during Sale-a-Bration simply by placing an order of at least £45.
