#SimpleStamping Saturday – Coming Home, Not just for Christmas. I know a few of you were a bit worried last weekend when there was no #SimpleStamping Saturday project from me, but I like to keep you on your toes! Had I been more ‘on it’ this is the project I would have shared last week, but actually, as it is about using a Christmas Stamp Set for a non-Christmas project, it really isn’t an issue to post it a week later.
The Coming Home Stamp Set is such a great set, and really is so much more than a Christmas set. I have used it for New Home Cards, just because cards, and today, a 17th Birthday card. Why 17th Birthday? Well, for those of you in the UK, you will know that 17 is the magic age when you can learn to drive (or at least take your driving test!). This Beetle style car is so iconic and is perfect for a card for a new driver.
#SimpleStamping
My first version uses a Whisper White Notecard and Envelope, just one ink pad and some watercolour pencils. I have added a second stamp set Family Party for the sentiments and numbers. The fact that Coming Home has no sentiments I see as a real plus. It means that you can do exactly what I have done, and use it for anything you want. HURRAH!
I mean. how cute is that! It is super quick and easy to make, helped by the stamps all being Photopolymer, so see through, making positioning super simple.
Stepped Up Version
My first stepped up version introduces heat embossing, as well as coloured card. The stamping is EXACTLY the same, but simply used Versamark and White Stampin’ Emboss Powder to get that wonderful raised shine.
For some added texture, I added some of the black and white twine from the Playful Pets Trim Combo, fraying the ends. I like that the black and white mirrors road markings too. The stamped layer is added to the card base with Dimensionals.
Stepped Up Even More Version
For the really Avid Crafters I have another version for you to look at. Lots of layering and some heat embossed foil! I LOVE heat embossing on foil, you need to be careful not to burn the foil or the powder, it melts very quickly on the foil. The cars are on the Red Foil from the Red & Green Foil pack in the August – December Mini Catalogue. The sentiment is on Basic Black, but fussy cut, as are the cars. Both the cars and the sentiment are popped up with Black Dimensionals.
I switched trims for this card, by using the narrow Real Red ribbon from the same, Playful Pets, combo pack.
So, have I convinced you that this stamp set is so much more than a Christmas Set? Not only is it really useful for all occasions, when you buy it from my Online Store Stampin’ Up will make a donation to charities devoted to adoption, foster care, and infertility. How about that, a Stamp Set with an extra warm and fuzzy feeling!!
