How to make 3 Cards with Handsomely Suited Bundle on Facebook Live Replay. When you wake up early with a headache, turn over and go back to sleep, hoping the headache is a dream, only to find it is not when you finally get up an hour later, that is the day that your Facebook Live is bound to go wrong. That was me yesterday! I had done about 10 minutes, with a bit of general chat and the ‘housekeeping’ only for Facebook to have a hissy fit and stop the stream. So, today’s video does not have the normal chat at the beginning. You may find that a plus of course!!
Father’s Birthday Card Recreated
I featured the Handsomely Suited Bundle that is in the new Mini Catalogue that launches on 5th January. I have shared a card with this already. I used it to make my Father’s Birthday Card recently, so, as I have been asked to show you how to make it, I thought during my Facebook Live would be as good a time as any to do so.
My Father generally dresses in a very conservative way, but he has always had some kind of statement piece in his wardrobe. When we were children it was some shirts made from very loud Batik prints that he had picked up in Sri Lanka. He would wear these at the weekend with his Tropical White Trousers that had been died to match the shirts. As a result, he was nicknamed the ‘Weekend Hippy. Now it is a pair of braces, generally red, which he started to wear following a bout of Shingles, which meant he couldn’t wear a belt. So, when it came to making his Birthday Card this year, I thought I would feature the braces.
The braces are made from some of the Festive Felt that is retiring from the August to December Mini Catalogue and the shirt ‘fabric’ is Plaid Tidings. During the Facebook Live I added single layer buttons in Cajun Craze, highlighted with some Clear Wink of Stella. I have since added three more layers to the buttons to make them stand out some more. Still highlighted with Clear Wink of Stella.
Strictly Come Dancing Inspired Dinner Jacket
This is design is really very simple and, once you have cut the pieces, is so simple to put together. I used the Black Glitter Paper, also retiring from the August to December Mini, for the lapels and bow tie as a nod to the glitz and glamour that is Strictly Come Dancing (Dancing with the Stars in some countries).
As with the previous version, I added the collar of the shirt with Dimensionals. You do have to treat the collar with some respect as the centre is very narrow, so can tear easily. The bow tie is also added with a Dimensional, this time a mini black one, with some liquid adhesive on the back of the tie to keep it in place on top of the collar.
Again, I added some extra layers of buttons to the shirt after the recording. The extra layers really do make a huge difference, and the Clear Wink of Stella turns them into something very special, which is what you need on a dress shirt. All in all, this worked out just how I wanted it, that little bit of glitz and glamour that is a perfect nod to Strictly.
Tone on Tone Stamped Tie Card
My final card is much simpler in its design and construction. My colour palette for this one is Seaside Spray, Sahara Sand and Early Espresso. The ties make a wonderful background stamped tone on tone, just flip the stamp each time and they form a subtle pattern.
Sahara Sand is a colour I seem to ignore most of the time, but it is actually a great neutral. Here I used it with Early Espresso ink for both the die cut tie and punched sentiment.
I wanted a slightly larger sentiment, but did not feel the larger ones in the set were right for the card I was making. Rather than bring in another stamp set, I decided to use two of the smaller sentiments, stamping them in one go, which helps with lining them up. The result was a perfect size to use with the Label Me Fancy punch. Oh, and I stamped them on the Sahara Sand mat, which was going to be covered anyway, so would not miss a small piece punched out!
So, what do you think? Isn’t the suite so versatile, you can make suits in any colours you want, and as for those braces, well they are just perfect. I have already planned to use this suite in one of my Classes in the Mail early in the New Year, so keep your eyes pealed for details of that, I have some really fun projects planned for it. Remember that until the Suite is available for Customers to order, I will not be able to provide you with the link to buy it, but the Bundle Item number is #156240, so add that to your wish list now!
