Game On #SimpleStamping Saturday Super QUICK Card. Are you ready for a really quick #SimpleStamping card. This is a REALLY quick card, and, for a change is landscape. My whole video is only about 10 minutes long, and that includes talking through how to make both stepped up version! The cards are perfect for any chess players in your life. After watching the amazing Netflix hit ‘The Queen’s Gambit’, I can see lots of people appreciating these cards.
#SimpleStamping
Today’s I am using the Game On stamp set from the Annual Catalogue. For a change, I have paired it with a Very Vanilla Note Card and Envelope. Why Very Vanilla? Because we are in the middle of transitioning from Whisper White to Basic White card, following the closure of the manufacturer. This means that stocks of Whisper White card are low and we are waiting for Basic White to be delivered.
I used Basic Gray Ink, stamping the chess pieces in the middle of the card, towards the bottom, with the board stamped either side. As luck would have it, the sentiment fits perfectly to the left of the chess pieces. Other than stamping the chess board on the envelope, that’s it. Like I said, REALLY quick.
Stepped Up Version
My first stepped up version introduces coloured card, some ribbon and punch. This time I used both the larger images of the Chess pieces and the hand of cards, as well two of the dice, then fussy cut all of the pieces.
The central label has the chess board stamped on it and is the shaped using an extended Label Me Lovely Punch piece. I simply cut a piece of Very Vanilla card the right width (just over 2″) and punched both ends, before trimming off the straight edge on both sides. I repeated this for the Basic Gray piece, but if you cut this 1-1/2″ longer than the piece you are layering it onto you will get the right length for a narrow border, just don’t trim the edges after you punched it.
There is a small amount of the Gray Granite Shimmer Ribbon either side of the label, just to help tie the label to the mat layer. The Sentiment is layered on Basic Gray and I added a few Silver Metallic Pearls to give the card a little extra ‘something’.
Second Stepped Up Version
My final version is loosely based on THIS CARD by Carolyn King from Perth, Western Australia which I spotted on Pinterest. I have changed it up quite a lot, but that was the inspiration. I used the same ‘In Good Taste’ Designer Series Paper, but added the large die cut from Many Medallions over the top. I had to trim this down to fit the card front (I cut away some of the central area) but loved the look of it over the paper.
The labels are extended Stitched Nested Labels, this can me a little tricky if you want a very long extension, but it is a great way of extending (pardon the pun!) the use of these dies.
The pieces have been fussy cut again, but this time I cut in between the chess pieces and then added Light Gray Granite Stampin’ Blend to all the cut edges. This really helps to give these pieces more depth and is such an easy technique. I popped up the chess pieces and the dice at the top left, as well as the label. As this is an easel card, I added some additional stamping on the inside and then popped up the dice and sentiment to act as the ‘block’. An easel card is not too difficult, so if you want an introduction to fancy folds, this is a good place to start.
